Ready to Empower The Next Generation of Tech Workers

I almost swore off this site for good because of the overwhelming negativity but I wanted to share something positive for a change. Here at State Farm, we do more than help life go right by our customers - we strive for positive social change.

The amazing leadership of Mark O and Ashley P have set the stage for the next generation of tech workers, and the future is female. Here at State Farm, we have made it our primary focus to hire more women into technology positions.

For far too long, the problem with systems has been that it is a club for straight white men. Sis white male patriarchy approaches every problem as a zero sum game. In the current year, 2018, we are ditching the old way of thinking about technology - where everything is black and white, right and wrong. Technology is not about 1s and 0s. Much like gender, computers are non-binary.

The amazing innovation at State Farm will change the thinking style of toxic masculinity that is so prevalent in our industry. With more women in systems, we can start to explore the more emotional aspects of database programming. When we empower women, we realize that computers are not about raw logic and reasoning but rather about feelings and interpersonal relationships.

Imagine a world where women are not harassed by patriarchal standards such as the rigid and s-xist requirement that most code compilers enforce. Thanks to the priorities of our amazing leadership in systems, we can empower women to think outside of the paradigm of compilable code. Now that is re3markable!

@UlcSvjD-2nwx I don't know what department you work in but my team and claims, in general, is a pretty good representation of the general population. In addition, there is a disproportionate number of women in leadership at this point. They are not called the all women mafia for no reason.

Nothing wrong with hiring women. But State Farm is not diverse unless your white or from India. As a black male who worked there for many years we all know this and of course you have your uncle toms that work there too.

GraceHopper this is a LAYOFF site not a vehicle for your propaganda. Take it somewhere else. There are people here hurting who need real info about whats going on with a company being run by a bunch of id--ts.

GraceHopper is being facetious. Tip 'n board don't care about gender, race, etc. it is all about money. Do you really think gender was considered in reducing the 49-54 1/2 age workers? Do you think the gender of the outside consultants mattered? The slogans and catch phrases are distractions to keep the little people's eye off what Tips is doing. We are all in this together. Watch for these three steps: indoctrination into concepts or theories of their design; division of the little people by gender, rank, salary, race, which generates animosity among the little people; introduction of manufactured crisis. This is all they need; demoralization and normalization are icing on the cake. The reason for both the negativity and positivity is manipulation. Either leave SF and be controlled no more or stay and understand what is really going on knowing there is nothing you can do about it. GraceHopper, if you are serious Adorno, Mancuse, Fromm are beaming. You have done the Cultural Marxists proud. Great idea to entrench them in American corporate culture, they didn't think of that! By thy way, Critical Theory has been accepted a failure, did you get the memo?

This already happened in claims. I knew an auto PD supervisor lady who threatened lawsuits to attain her position. Did not know what a dually pick-up was. Body shops had a great time with her. Money flew out the door, she cried weekly at her desk. That's the ticket folks! Hire/promote people for who they are, not what they can do. The powerful need not empowerment.

Systems will innovate when they remove the leadership that creates the roadblocks. Stop the propaganda slogans and posters...they are meaningless. Cut the red tape and have the business areas change their mindset form the culture of no and we want it the same as it was before, but gooder. They've gutted ET to be ready..but right now we still have the roadblocks and now we just have the resources to work the overhead, and not do the real work that we want to do. We are worse off until they fix the root of the problem

Please let me know where I can find this amazing innovation at State Farm. I haven’t seen it yet. Let me get back to handling claims on software that was built to work with windows 98.

I will spend this morning diversifying my laptop and explain to the power switch that non-binary conditions exist and should be embraced and accepted - and strict enforcement of on/off is a bad thing.

It may be comedy gold but I could completely see it on the Intranet homepage, next to the other propaganda they try to feed us on a daily basis. Everything’s great, nothing to see here, move along.

Oh yes, your post was oozing with positivity. Good luck in your career with SF. I am just a worthless straight white male so there is no hope for me.
