Severance

I was recently fired. If you'are wondering what severance package you will get, here is the info. I was told there is no more formula like 2 weeks per year of service. However, what I was given adds up to being roughly 0.5 week of pay per year. I was full time for 7 years. Make of it what you want.

Sounds like you got a bad deal. One of the old timers from our office got 26 weeks severance. Not to mention she was allowed to continue to work until the end of the month, which I think was about 3 weeks after she was notified.

She did have to train her replacement though, that kinda s---s, a lot.

Note, she was with the company for over 20 years.

One of my coworkers was just laid off. She was let go but was paid for the next 2 weeks as if still on payroll, then given 26 weeks of severance. She basically got the same package McKesson gave. 2 weeks per year of service up to a max of 26 weeks.

@URyzeTD-1rxf USA.

@URyzeTD-yac I just googled and realized that "fired" and "laid off" is not the same thing. English is not my native language and I didn't see the difference between the two. To be precise, I was laid off. The explanation was given that there is no budget for my role. Before that happened to me, I noticed that people disappear randomly (without permission to say goodbye to their teammates) from random teams. I didn't see any pattern such as salary amount, years of experience, race, gender, or any other parameter. I figured the new strategy is to layoff 1 person from 100 teams vs 100 people all at once. I can see the twisted logic and benefit for the company to do it that way.

As to your "jump to conclusions" and "personal insults", I can only say that sooner or later you will be in the same boat sir (or ma'am) and I hope that when that happen people will treat you with decency you deserve.
