Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

Bon Voyage and good luck NYC peeps!

It’s been a great run despite the last few years of inept leadership that sunk a once profitable ship. I will miss our daily interactions and chuckle at the thought of those moving on to ES thinking they’ve found greener pastures. The 2 hour gym lunches are over (you know who you are) and you style will be scrutinized in true mean girl fashion. I’ve sat here for the past month (mostly from home) wondering how some of the lunkheads here have lasted so long. from the lame duck copywriters, the designers that regurgitate the same stuff season after season and the marketers who think they’ve had the answer in a magical powerpoint but the reality is, the leadership has been terrible. no inspiration, direction or disruptive ideas, just garbage phoning it in. Hope you’ve been as lucky as I’ve been. I start my new gig in 2 weeks away from toys and i couldn’t be more excited to leave this toxicity behind.

I think NYC mean girls can give ES mean girls a run for their money.

Unless my goal was to end in california at some point in my life...I wouldnt take the offer to go to ES. This company is too risky for my blood. But good luck to those who did and good luck to everyone else in nyc.

toys s---. the industry is in the toilet and being run by people from food companies and areas of business unrelated to manufacturing. it’s bevome pitiful and sad. there will always be a need but mattel has prove that they are not the GO TO to fulfill that need for parents and children alike.
