Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

Why does PepsiCo let executives rot??????

The company is filled with career directors who sit in the same positions for double digit years. Year in and year out, the company faces the same problems and these people cannot fix them. This is the definition of insanity. A company filled with undertalented executives who use nepotism to keep them jobs long pas their self life.

@ U8XSE2Y-7cqq it is still prevalent in our company. I went out several weeks ago with several directors and they order 3 bottles of wine over $220 each. I was handed the bill at the end of the night and told to expense it as a leadership meeting. The bottom feeders just found a new way to cheat the system.

@U8XSE2Y-5lcv the days of $200+ bottles of wine are long gone - (for years people abused the system so smart spending enacted, which is a good thing) With smart spending restrictions these things don't happen anymore... if exec go over their $60 daily food allowance difference comes out of their pockets. Also, many of the Marriott hotels are now over the lodging rate cap so they aren't really racking up Marriott points. - Just saying.

I would add to the comment made by Fitzypoo that in order to be at least of a manager's level, you must have constant needless meetings that accomplish absolutely nothing, because they're called so that the manager can say he/she is doing something. In reality, the meetings do nothing in the way of updating, and in any case, what's discussed has no bearing/interest for many of the other attendees, except for saying that they're team players - corporate speak for blatant ash-kissers.

If you can agree with everything your boss says for 20+ years, have mediocre metrics, and not sleep with the bosses wife and/or mistress then you too can be a PepsiCo director! The key is agreeing and only using bandaids to fix problems. Remember, the next generations will always fix the BS.

Funny thing is that most execs in Pepsi have 0 experience outside the company.

Pepsi Execs are world class at one thing: spending $. The waste, fraud and abuse at PepsiCo is a complete joke. Is it necessary to have a band at a AOP kickoff meeting? Should associates be ordering $200 bottles of wine and marking it as “team building?” Do execs need to travel weekly when most places have video conferencing equipment that has an inch of dust on it? Oh wait, they need to be chairmen status on American Airlines and have 4 million Marriott points!

Very true. I see guys who appear to be hitting their late 50s/early 60s who have been around for 30+ years, probably never having worked in any other company prior. Of course this creates the culture of inbred ideas that keep going around, but what does this say about the persons themselves? I mean these people are only around because they likely did not have the courage in their earlier years to do anything with themselves. And today these corporate 'cowards' are the ones leading the way.
