Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

This is not normal

Qualcom HR and execs on this board want you to think Apple work culture is toxic to curb the attrition of key Qualcomm employees. I joined Apple from Qualcomm 4 months ago. It was the best decision of my career.

After you have been at Qualcomm for so long, you start to think the crap going on around you is normal. Let me tell you that the level of politics, nepotism, the way hard-working employees are treated, the way good technical work is not valued, and inept exec team are NOT normal. There are better run companies out there. Lift your head up out of the sewage and map your way out to a better place. It's possible. Good luck

Repost from @Tte40qT-tia just to make sure more people see this.

Dear OP, most qcom ppl are jealous of you as they cannot clear apple interviews. So they will cook up stories.

If you want a 40 hour job, work in the gov't. If you want the opportunity to excel, grow and be rewarded for it put in the extra time, effort and stop whining. The top engineers are rewarded well and significantly better than the gov't drone worker. If you're getting "meets" (is it still a 3 at QCOM) or 4's on most of your reviews, you're the bottom. Fix yourself.

The largest headache employees are the "meets" that do 40 in a good week, poor quality, participate in the "outreach" programs at every opportunity, sick all the time, need to WFH frequently and complain excessively that they are not getting larger bonus, options, salary and ratings.

Qualcomm treated me very fairly. Worked my but off for it, but was rewarded too.

Sad to hear that this is over. RTP made Qualcomm from 2005-2015, it was set to do it again with server, but there is so much jealousy and no support from San Diego.

Total BS i know from multiple people that apple is absolutely horrible for work life balance. Maybe it is ok for those useless engineers who take 4x time to finish a task and end up working 6 days a week 12 hours every day. It is apple empkoyees who think that over working us the norm. I asked an apple employee if he needs to work overtime there and his response was "no, we just spend one weekend every 2 months". Thats 12 extra days of work which happens to be the number of paid vacation days you get if you move to apple. Its not my fault if i can complete my work faster and with more innovation.

It‘s still freely invented b---s---, no matter how much you repost it. Especially the retarded paranoia. I am not a member of Q HR. I am acticely working on leaving Q, because it‘s a sh--ty company. But I still know as a fact that Apple‘s work culture is worse than Q‘s and probably worse than the work culture at any large tech company. How I know this? My brother works there.

Heck, at yesterday‘s WWDC keynote, Tim Cook once again said that great achiements are not possible without huge personal sacrifices. So Apple‘s CEO cannot imagine that his company can achieve its goals without working its employees to death. That speaks volumes.
