Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

Morale will continue to dwindle

There is no indication of large layoffs in the oilfield part of Schlumberger at the moment, but there will continue to be pressure to make it a much less enjoyable place to work. The RIR situation is one case in point. By demanding one per week, each employee is turned against every other employee. There is a great pressure to report any action as a major affront to the cause of "safety". The result is that people may allow those near them to do something less safe in order to have something to report. Morale will continue to dwindle, injury rates will not go down and it will be an ever worse place to work.

At the Florence Ky plant we simply fabricate all RIRs. Assign any action items to yourself and then close it.

I just wish upper management would set some real goals for products and services.

No one on the cameron side knows what SLB does. We know what we do, but talking with some people in SLB and it really seams like SLB does nothing. It is like a 75,000 employee company that does nothing.

Toxicity in the oil service business is normal. The only thing you can do is to get a rubber neck, put on your lederhosen and not take things too seriously.

Well said Post ID: @TZO5kYk-zhy . Turning one employee against the other by using this ridiculous RIR reporting system of one a week will only further increase the poor moral of people working for SLB.

Good products and service are the important issues that need to be supported, not more sticks to beat an already very de moralised workforce with.

The slow and long decline will continue unless there is a major change from the top management of this very lost and poorly managed company, moral here in SHTC UK is at an all time low, we have lost so many good people because of this are advantage to be a market leader has been lost a long time ago.

Totally agree with you, US office is looking at Canada as consumable, they know Canada will closedown soon or later, and eventually US will run Canada ops too.

This isn't place to work, we are loosing lots of opportunities to small companies and competition, we hardly get invited to RFP

Our competitors do.

But as far as we met ridiculous objectives we are doing it right!!!!

Morale has dwindled to a point of constant negativity. No matter which office I visit in Canada or the US all I hear is employees who dread coming to work on a daily basis. High quality people that hate to come to work because of the toxic environment that PK and his corrupt presidents have created. No vision of the future, only how to meet financial targets that were poorly set and ultimately damage the companies ability to do more than shrink again to meet the next round of goals. The downward spiral of a once great company as it prepares to implode upon itself from poor vision and execution. Strangling each product line until none are healthy enough to meet client expectations and ultimately lose market. Forcing yet another trimming and reducing our revenue generation. The board of directors needs to be gutted along with PK and every president we have left in the company. Sell your stock now.

SLB stopped doing massive layoffs long time ago. Instead, they have been constantly doing small layoffs here and there. Layoffs at SLB will never end.
