Question 40 on the unemployment application asks for vacation payout. How are we supposed to know that amount at this time?

Call EDD if you need help. It is a government agency so good luck with that.
If they do this layoff like they did in 2015, the final check that they hand you when you check out (hand in your badge, office key, etc.) will include any vacation pay that you have accrued as well as any sick leave that you haven't used. Vacation pay is NOT included in the severance check. Looking at my severance letter, all that was included was: 2 weeks severance (Gross), 2 weeks severance for every year of service, prorated on years and months (Gross), Lump sum for health coverage (Gross). I was there for 21 years and the Total Gross Severance was a good amount. When I got the actual check (2 months later in January 2016) I was in for a complete shock. The government took almost 1/2 of it - 39% for Federal and 6% for State.
You will be ok. No issue qualifying
@aso.... you will qualify for unemployment even with the severance package. You have to report it when you file but they don't consider it as regular income.
Thanks. Now I'm interested in the "you don't [qualify] for unemployment". I suspect that the severance and even vacation payout makes that true. Please explain.
Please dont start selling trunk lunches. It's a rough job that the people who were fired before you already occupy. Do something creative like washing car windows at the traffic light on Lusk or something.
Are you still working at QC? Or did they tell you stay home, but you are still collecting paychecks? If so, you don't qualify at this time. On your last day they will give you a letter that lists your severance amount, your vacation pay amount, if they give you any stipend for a month's of health insurance, that will also be listed. Hope that helps.
