If you think the company cares then your a fool. The problem in todays society is the big shots want lower pay while they get more.

See the fighting here? its all planned and guess what? it is working.

To the younger generation that thinks that when we, the so called Baby Boomers, retire that someone will come to you and take you to the desk that I used to use and say: "Here you are, have a nice career." That is not going to happen. The job I did will be outsourced to some Third World country or done by robots. All my retirement means is that LESS money will be available in the economy to support you. So stop thinking that older people who are still working are holding you back. We are not, we are STILL providing for you and for society as a whole.

Do these people not realize that they will be old too one day? That they will be going through the samething at one point in their lives. Didn’t your parents teach you to respect your elders.

F the Boomers! Long live Gen-X'ers who are the REAL workers making it happen every day! If you are over the age of 60 and still sponging it at ATT with no retirement savings to enjoy life then you are the real problem!

Re: attack on baby boomer employees. FYI, Sunday school member works in IT group at major bank for 20 years and was told Friday their IT work(management and non-management) going to India. So be careful if you think your position is safe. You do realize our offshore employees work for a lot less than US workers/employees. I know, my ex-offshore boss told me my salary was a whole lot more than my peers. Be kind to your older and experienced US peers, we put in a lot of hours to get the company where it is just as you maybe able to. Pray those who are surplused are able to find jobs and that less work goes offshore.

Us boomers need that millennial’s to keep working paying into Social Security so we can collect because they’ll never get any!

I hope all make it to retirement as I did. And strike to preserve my benefits as I did for those who went before. Some new folks get it, most don’t. You JR. Folks could save a lower seniority job by quitting as well. Why is it my responsibility to do so and not yours?

Think back on George W Bush, considered an intellectual by the right wing, he brought us 9/11, the war in Iraq and tax cuts for the corporations, money being used to fund Trump.

Trump is the GOP.

Look at all the states run by the GOP, poor economics and public education, socially and politically backward. Do we really want the country run the same way Kansas has been?

A bunch of old, bitter, curmudgeonly churls, I feel sorry for your families. It seems to bring you pleasure that others will not be given, and yes, given the same benefits you receive. You were simply in the right place at the right time. You didn't "earn" anything. I realize your IQ is too low to comprehend the facts.

Not sure what you are so excited about, I hope you have a lot of fun working the next few years 7 days a week and late nights . You won't get paid extra for it, and you won't get a pension either - enjoy !

Typical management trolling, trying to divide the older and the newer, the men and the women. Corporate management is the real enemy.

If you are young and have little time here ... you are doomed anyway, so quit whining. No-one needs to retire to provide you a job, same as those before us. If you can't see that all of us "old" people are the ones that will be shutting the lights off, then you are just plain stupid.

There are maybe a couple of more years max for the majority of the techs, then it will be a few guys here and there covering all pots / dsl / uverse and fiber to the prem together. How much longer do you all think that they are going to continue to pay half the crew to do BPC's everyday?

No-one working here that needs 10 or 15 more years as an outside tech or construction person is ever going to get that kind of time here anyway, so instead of complaining, improve yourself and look for other employment.

Attitudes like this are one reason us fossils hang around. I wouldn’t retire to save your job.

34 years in, easily make it to 40. I’ve more decades than you have weeks of vacation.

I’ve earned it, you have not.

We are in this together, To all boomers let's hope we lazy millennial will have a job that wil! PAY for your social securit benefits, many of you I am sure don't have the proclaimed millions of dollars saved for retirement, no doubt our calamity will be yours.just like any other generation we, are responding to our environment and experiences. We are a generation who have experienced massive unemployment, a housing market crash, and a recession. It has shaped how we approach every major milestone in our life, from college to getting married. And our approaches are varied.

But we are also children of change. do we want to be working for companies that do not offer pensions? or perhaps one just like AT&T that fire employees with 25+ years seniority, I am sure those folk will have a change of heart when impacted, as soon as change is demonized, innovation will suffer, good luck in your retirement.

Why are people calling each other names instead of uniting against the economic system that brought us where we are today. You can't blame that system on Boomers as a group because most never chose the system we have. We think we live in a democracy but it doesn't matter who you vote for they serve the money men. The wealthy, like our boy Randall, call the shots. Why do you think he paid Michael Cohen all that moolah (and don't even think of telling me he wasn't the one behind the Cohen payoff)? Corruption my friend. And none of this is the fault of the citizens of this country because our votes don't matter. The guys who vote with dollars always win. So Boomers stop criticizing Millenials and GenZs and GenZ and Millenials stop criticizing Boomers. It doesn't matter whether you wear your hair in a crew cut or a "man bun". We are all in this together and the top management is your real enemy--NOT each other. ATO has at least two chains of command where CEO reports to CEO and President to President. That's featherbedding of the most egregious kind. Who needs all that top heavy management? If they really wanted to save money they could root out the layers of level 5s, 6s, and even 4s. They don't do real work they impede the work of the people who really do the work. So, folk, stop criticizing each other and realize who your real enemy is. Talk among yourselves and get to know and appreciate each other and share your knowledge of the outrages committed by the executives. Build your anger, direct it in the right place, and find ways to make them unsuccessful. It ain't easy, that's why all of us need to focus on the real enemy.

People work 30 years plus, because there used to be a difference/benefit. I know it's hard for the young to imagine :)

OK folks, sounds like there is more than one offer on the table, naturally.

One is Management

One is Bargained

This seems to be the very least, there could be more, although I doubt it.

Speaking as a non-bargained management employee, under Arnoldi, we got the STANDARD offer, everything as usually earned, max of 6 months severance, and the other benefits that follow.

The only thing that is different, is the FULL LUMP SUM payout for some. Others have had FULL LUMP SUM payout for some time.

If you are ready for retirement and really want to go, then this is for you.

What’s embarrassing is that you people don’t know the difference between millennial as and generation z.

Millennial s are the ones that you old farts stuck with a ruined economy, a do nothing unaccountable government, and a never quenching thirst for debt.

Millennial s are also the ones who get to deal with dumb a-- tide pod eating condom snorting entitled generation z.

Please get it right
