All True, but if they shut down site completely they don't need to account for anything. People will get the package and move on...
@jhu That only applies if there is a Sozialplan, which is not the case here. Either your german colleagues told you BS or you misunderstood it
It’s nearly impossible to fire anyone in Europe, and when you do, you must account for social welfare status. I talked to my coworkers in Frankfurt last week, they are required to take into account if the guy getting fired has a kid, non-working wife, or house. If so, they fire the 30 year old unmarried kid, since he can relocate. The old, fat guy is protected. Have a look at the Sozialauswahl rules!
