Selling them means Qualcomm would make less profit on each chip sold as they would have to pay the new owner more to make the chips than it would cost them if they kept the fabs. The EPS projections do not include a fab sale and higher chip costs. A no go.
BS, the truth is that NXP fabs are outdated, NXP management is waiting for the sale so that Qualcomm management look like the bad guys.
Close the fabs; Q doesnt want to invest in upgrading them.
Its expensive to layoff in Europe but Q has lots of practice now. Think of the savings if they trim 1/3 of NXP employees.
The Fabs are paid off and probably support specialized processes. If it was good to sell them why was not done when NXP was owned by a private venture investors? I am sure there Must be a reason for holding onto them.
Is it really just a rumor? Why wouldnt qcom close the money draining fabs? They will also layoff thousands of nxp employees.
