SSR position getting eliminated

I’ve been told the position is going away in August. Told to look into what we want to do with the company....want us to move into the other role sooner than later....

severance and unemployment are not connected. You are still out of a job and the state will pay you unemployment.

Severance is like a bandaid for being let go after investing time with a company. The longer you’ve been with them the higher the amount, although that might be unique to bargain employees. I know when they laid off asms they also got severance, so it depends on the company really,

Severance is in concrete in our Union Contracts. No not all companies offers severance.

Unemployment is based on being “laid off” through no fault of your own. Two separate things-

Severance/ Unemployment.

Can you really get severance and unemployment at the same time ? I did not think that was allowed in most states.

I agree I did a Accessory count the other day and it took me less than 2 hours. It’s crazy how low the store is in accessories. I find myself doing nothing for hours now, and I’m in a sm3. It’s no where near the level of time it used to be to do daily tasks.

I’ll take the severance personally, I’ve put in enough time to get max severance. That with unemployment should give me a nice cushion to find something better in the meantime.

Although if the rumor is true, I’ve heard from a pretty reliable source that they are going to give an ssr multiple stores which would make it a bit more practical.

Just 4 years ago my stores received 400 boxes a week. We had huge amounts of inventory on hand that took hours to count every month. We had 2 resets a months averaging 30 hours. We had CARS, paperwork, TONS of returns- restock fees were a lot less then. It took 2 SSRs 50 hours a week to survive.

Now we have MAYBE 25 boxes a week. A monkey could recieve them now- it’s so much easier. Resets are maybe 8 hours a month. The store is bare bone with merchandise, we counted the floor & finalized it in 45 minutes this month. That used to take up to 6 hours! No more CARS. One actual BRE 2 weeks in a row.

The entire job could be done in 20 hours or less a week, yet we still have 2 full-time SSRs. Someone within the T knows this has happened because it was by design.

The remaining 60 hours a week we have between us- we are just losing our minds. It’s actually amazing it has gotten to this point. I think a FORCE ADJUST is definitely in order.

I think it’s great that someone is being ‘transparent’ with you & suggesting you try to take another job with the company while you can.

So when is this supposed to be announced? I mean I would appreciate some transparency- rather than the token ‘oh no, that’s never going to happen’ go on live it up- forget about it.

This has happened before back in 2013 and I was impacted, was lucky enough to get transferred to another location and stayed in that position for 4 years before I had enough and moved to a different position.

Best of luck to those being impacted, if this is indeed to be true and not just another rumor like it has been the last few years.

Why is this the most disregarded topic on this site? Does anyone realize the amount of people this will affect?

First total elimination of the position. Then it’s the position will be made “a manager” and also handle escalations. Then it’s oh NO surplus- we are just going to wait until all SSRs give up and quit, (Which is the most stupid reasoning ever).

NOW we are back to a Force Adjustment in August? Does this actually start in August or end in August.

Does anyone even know? I’m sure someone does- Go ahead SPEAK UP! This game has gone on for 2 years.

It’s effecting REAL PEOPLE’S lives! But I guess no one cares- see above “Why is the most disregarded topic on this site?”

At least you are gaurenteed a job. If they lower head count it will be done by seniority and how many ssr are needed.

I heard a couple of days ago in my market- fl that they are going to only have 1 SSR per store. So there are more SSRs then there are stores. Supposedly the union is now fighting with At&t about this. How will they decide who goes where and who stays? If this does happen.
