We KNOW that there will be layoffs. Why no inclination whatsoever from the union or management as to how many and where? I wonder why MORALE IS SO LOW.

Machinist manager said yesterday, layoff notices will go out next week. According to him machinists will be hit this time.
The answer is simple.... Put your head down and work. Show the new plant manager that Schenectady can actually get product out the door and people work hard. The real world does not accept the laziness that’s on our plant floor Today. If someone tells you to slow down, tell them to shut up and worry about themselves.
Correction. There will be no layoffs until there are layoffs.
There will be no layoffs...
I can’t wait to stand in the unemployment line with this set of management. Ha ha ha ha
Unions aren't perfect but I cant imagine working for GE the most ruthless company there is without a union. I've seen what this company tries to get away with.
This is just some old retired guy with literally nothing better to do. If you take him seriously then he exists.

You are in for an awakening when the secondary class of hires vote to take your pension away. Then you will get laid off when they close the doors and ship your work to Alstom. Your new plant manager is here to padlock the doors
Long Live Alstom
These ARE legitimate concerns. I am a union employee who works really hard. I am just genuinely concerned for my job and the welfare of my family.
BS...to the last post. The "Less work and more pay mantra" of unions is over. And soon, SCOTUS will rule against unions from forcing members who ekect not to to pay dues. The mother's milk will run dry.
I don't understand why the trolls have to be so nasty. There are people in here with real and justifiable worries and concerns. Try to have a little empathy.
ID: @T0K2keC-1yma, very well said, spot on, and exactly why we have the work atmospheres we have today!!
If the possibility of layoffs is negatively impacting your life that much, the solution is simple: get another job. Do some research and choose a company that offers stability and potential for career growth.
No one is making you stay at GE. As an hourly union employee, I know why you don't want to leave: outside of the alternate reality of the union bubble, you will be expected to perform 8 hours work for 8 hours pay (you won't get paid for watching movies.) You will be held accountable for production, quality and attendance. No slap on the wrist contacts in real jobs; termination for the first f***-up is a very real possibility.
There will be no layoffs.
