Crash course on training for all roles in backroom

What is the point if this anyway? So they can hi-lite their folder of who can do what?

I don’t consider 3 hours to go over what all is done in backroom from RTV to building bar b que pits actual training where I wd be able to do any one of the many tasks that the back room does.

I can pick web orders as long as there is a working snc but I’ve done that a few times, but all the other stuff....it takes a hands on approach to actually learn the task

Is anyone else having a crash course on training

Is this just another way to eliminate people in the next phase?

I remember back in 2/11/18 at that “mandatory” meeting, they said we had two months to learn all functions whether it’s store support or sales support

Kinda interesting how now that 60 days is almost up, training is in the picture again !! Ugh

Regarding the earlier comment on cashier training; recently in one of the stores in our district right after the 3 store support associates finished unloading the truck one was called onto the sales floor to be a cashier. He said it wasn't his job. The SM informed him yes it was because he was now store support and store support includes cashiering as well as all other sales floor responsibilities in addition to his backroom responsibilities. He finished his shift, punched out, and called the next day and resigned over the phone.

@Sv2XoZ0-1klb Sounds like our store as well we were just basically put out their assign to do task without any training. Ours started strong with good hours and every week they have been going down.

You just have no time to do anything and certain co workers are slacking it off and it just sounds like its just going to get worse especially with how the hours are cut. Doesn't help that our SM doesnt do anything but complain about how things are.

@1klb that doesn’t sound good- maybe you’re on the list for closure? , we just finished up and were told about the raise too. It ain’t much but hey, every little bit, right? We are also having a BBQ on Saturday, DM coming in to be the grillmaster.

@-fko. Glad you got all your training done. How much time did you spend in the cash wrap in cashier training?

Our hours were cut from day one. We have so few people in Store Support we haven't had a chance to do hardly any training what so ever. To the poster from the Texas store, we were never told about a 60 day training period, never told about any raise upon completion, and never told about a store to store exchange. We were told to just go to work, do our job, and learn on our own. We only have one person scheduled per shift in Store Support except truck day when one extra person is scheduled to help unload the truck. As far as signing and store processes go, good luck with one person except for two people for signing. It is a total mess.

We finished our training two weeks ago and my experience has been like @-dsx tons of people and hours now and next check we will have the raise for getting done within 60 days as promised.

Next week we are doing the store to store exchange - ten of our people, ten of theirs, swap for a week. We are a Texas store.

@Sv2XoZ0-bfg As mentioned you will be overworked and exploited because since you know more you will be taken advantage of for minimum wage.

@Sv2XoZ0-dsx Our store has had the opposite effect. When the whole SST started hours were pretty good after that every week its been going down. This week the higher ups said that we had to cut hours because our sales were very down. I mean course our sales are bad because the whole change is actually not benefiting the store its just created chaos.

Our sears still has like 7 people in back room plus the store support coordinator

3-4 people unloading truck on truck day, 1-2 people doing web orders, 2-3 people processing the truck on truck day... that’s just on truck day

Back room people also have been helping sales support team do clearance markdowns and put freight away

Don’t know where all the hours are coming from but our store is running like it’s 1999!

We have a group of really really nice people at my store

Yes, you will do three times the amount of work with the store support role than you did for just the backroom role--which was demanding in itself--for the same pay.

Still only have one person per shift doing store support unless it's a day that falls on adset or truck. Might get lucky and have an extra hand or two for reset, but not if there's a never-ending queue of web orders and MPU stages/pickups.

@Sv2XoZ0-bfg Also the more likely you'll quit because they will overwork you to death and not pay you the wages you deserve.

The more you know and are trained in the less likely you will get laid off.

I said it to my co workers this is a way to cut and eliminate as much as possible to have less associates in the floor to do more. Basically you will have 1 person handle MPU/Footwear/hardlines at times. Sometimes you might have two, but instead of having 3 to 4 associates dedicated in the departments it will be cut to two or even one associate to handle all 3 different areas.

Corporate doesn't know where else to cut so they are doing whatever to assume they will save money in the long run. The rough times are coming tax season is almost over summer is coming and more stores are closing. Its going to be a horrible summer this year since the company is running out of time.
