Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Absentee leaders made a lot of damages

“Absentee leaders are people in leadership roles who are psychologically absent from them. They were promoted into management, and enjoy the privileges and rewards of a leadership role, but avoid meaningful involvement with their teams. Absentee leadership resembles the concept of rent-seeking in economics — taking value out of an organization without putting value in. As such, they represent a special case of laissez-faire leadership, but one that is distinguished by its destructiveness.”

If you read both the links, the incumbent FTC acting general counsel POV:

  1. Anti-trust was frequently abused in abroad and domestic market.

  2. IP protection should be enhanced for American benifit.

Now that Qcom made ally with ss and alleviated the risk from KFTC, once FTC drop the charge against Qcom, aapl will lose the foundation of its dispute with Qcom. I guess that’s why appl want to bring the case to Europe.

The wind has changed and most likely the old business model could continue to work for a while.

But personally I think it isn’t enough to save april’s layoff. The world has changed, so should we.

A bonus for ppl who really care about this company: FTC may dismiss the charge against Qcom soon, it may pave the way to final settlement with fruited co.

'we did a great job', this could be heard from every all hands meeting. Did this imply the incompetence exists from top to bottom?

One can't blame the individuals but the implementation of this organization. Because it is human's nature to maximize their personal interest.

HR and executive team should take the hit.

Well written

My director send emails, dictates and adds a "please" and "sorry" to make it sound like it's not dictated .

Value addition is ZERO.

Just sits around to please people and get job done by threatening others. Buddies with other directors. Has no contribution by subject. Sad leadership
