Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

What really going on?

So the last post on the Layoff Facebook page. Here you are.... From working at Whole Foods Market and quitting a while ago.

Lets get down to the science. (Not really) Who's losing their jobs? Well first off start from the top. Start in corporate, specifically regional-- get rid of all the coordinator positions and the so called important individuals such as presidents, vp's, executive individuals and what so...--such as everyone that is involved in "leading a team in their region". Lets face it, they aren't needed to run a gigantic corporation. (You have to set rule and implement these rules drastically aka OTS) Austin is your base, keep it there. Get rid of your other regions corporate "coordinators and slim down by adding the workload to these individuals and "upgrading" their pay a little more. Because in the long run it'll still save you money (a lot).Thats when you get down to the core, aka the stores. Cut positions such as demo aka marketing (you don't need these in retail since products sell themselves) and buyers can be replaced by automated ordering systems). When Whole Foods started they hired some good individuals, but lets face it they didn't won't to keep up with the latest trends in retail. Reason why WFM fell behind. (how many of these individuals hold at least a bachelors degree?) This isn't a new trend. Whole Foods Market just fell behind in the technological advance of technology. Amazon is just bringing Whole Foods Market up-top-date.

Totally agree!! Cordinators why be a great start!! Alot needs to be cleaned up though. The sooner the better.

Nepotism, favors and hiring extremely unqualified people to these high ranking positions becuse they’re friends has played a big part in ruining what was once an amazing company to work for. Heads got to arrogant and bloated. It’s time for a major correction.

People with degree's and no hands on experience have also played a part in ruining this company. They make decisions that don't work because they don't understand the inner workings of the business but sound good on paper. School of Hard Knocks is not such a bad education and a degree along with it would be a plus. A degree alone is not good enough, I have seen the issues from it way too many times. Even with automated ordering you will still need buyers to take care of what a computer can not do. Yes, they can have less buyers but they will still need some.
