Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Pa, Concordville

Should we all just walk out, since they are not being honest?

Our office (former operation center) is dying a slow but sure death too. One or two people a week quit and are not being replaced. Sad and scary.

There has been no formal announcement. Everyone knows it's a matter of time. But it could come next year or 5 years from now. We do know they are not hiring anyone there. If someone leaves they are not replaced there.

At the end of the month they are moving about 200 people from underwriting into the building from Spring Valley. I'm not sure how many people total that will be.

Was concordville a “named office”? It wasn’t one of the 11 slated to close. How many employees will be displaced? Worried because our office hasn’t been chopped yet....hoping for a few more years.

I worked in an office near one of the hubs. We were told over three years ago that all offices besides the hubs and Bloomington would be closed in 5 years. You can find the list of slated closures on the intranet.

@1qkj-not sure about proximity person only mentioned op centers and some ancillary sites will all be gone and be swallowed into the HUBS or Bloomington. Like I said earlier I don’t want to scare anyone but want people to be thinking ahead and planning. I feel this site can be good for that if we all share. Hopefully things change and this doesn’t come true as I feel having a presence in locations is better overall for the company than only being in a few spots.

@Se4z9O9-1lds - does this include Proximity??? Because this would mean no local Fire adjusters to handle Large Losses etc.

In Bloomington here and ran into a fellow SF’er and I’ll keep it at that, at an event last week. If I were not in one of the 3 Hubs or Bloomington I would be looking unless you’re very close to retirement. Projected plan, nothing but Hubs and Bloomington after 2019 and if delayed no later than 2021. A lot can change but good info and from very reliable source. This blog and board is supposed to be about sharing information to help people plan and get through this. I hope this doesn’t cause anymore emotional stress to anyone already going through tough times, but it gives you almost 2 years to get affairs in order and make a plan whether it be to leave or try to stay with the company if willing to move to HUB. Hope this helps and honestly hope this doesn’t come true for all the communities out there that will be impacted.
