Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Get Ready Pablo

You may be waiting for your package and monetarily that looks like the best option for now. But once you are laid off, you will be going to other companies to interview and you will have to explain something about your layoff.

People who are laid off do not make a great impression at interviews.

Consider taking control of your life, updating your skills and your resume and proactively looking for another job. You will appear to be the smart person who realizes you are working for a failing company and is doing the right thing for your career.

Getting laid off and rejected by a failing company is not a great thing to discuss at your next interview.

Not sure if this applicable to San Diego where we are the leading large enterprise.

Maybe in a setting where there is a lot of competition and a ton of cutting edge companies, you may encounter some issues, but here in SD, really no... I see our folks hired promptly, sometimes it takes just a couple of weeks.

Yep, it's all good man, no mass layoffs.

Here is a stat for you (from this thread):

So let that sink in bro, 122 views in 10 minutes... Do your math and figure out how many qualcomm folks keep looking at this site. Even if 50% of views is outside of QC population, you cannot deny that there is a sh--load of anxiety here.

@qhi they better do the cuts fast, otherwise people will start to bail. If you are in Finance, you know what I am talking about.

This is absurdly false. Many companies are actively working on hiring from qualcomm asap and they are very aware of the dates, expected notice period etc.

This happens all the time. It is painful at a personal level. But in no way is a mass layoff a stigma.

Stop scaring people.
