Earnings will determine layoff numbers
Management decisions for all power systems businesses will be soon once earnings and cash flow numbers are rolled up. That will determine numbers. We are in quiet period for that reason.

You do realize that there is more to Schenectady than manufacturing?
273 isn't the only building on campus.
Plenty of open positions on GE Careers for professionals.
Those who barely graduated HS and proclaim "I ain't got no fancy book learnin', I got common sense" need not apply.
Please do tell where in Schenectady Manufacturing they are hiring? Aside from bringing some of the Jan. layoff SFO/Machine repair folks back in, there are more bodies in 273 then there is work for them to do, aside from the large machining cell that is and has been severely lacking for a few years now! Please share with us all the real info you have!!
The truth is the first quarter is over and the plan for the year is set. There will be no large layoffs. In fact GE is hiring, especially in Schenectady.
The union boys are sad.
Q1 earnings call will be dismal and spark immediate action but just whacking employees will not fix problem.
Cannot turn around a decade of bad management and present bloated cost structure.
I believe there will be large layoffs soon when Q1 earnings numbers come out. It won't be pretty.
Its all about the numbers and GE Power just isn't cutting it.
They have a $2 Billion cost problem
