2018 to be even worse for GE Power

Can it really get much worse than it already is, though?

GE warns 2018 could be even worse than it expected for its embattled power business

How much of the world's energy comes from renewable sources?

In 2012, the world relied on renewable sources for around 13.2% of its total primary energy supply. In 2013 renewables accounted for almost 22% of global electricity generation, and the IEA Medium-Term Renewable Energy Report 2015 foresees that share reaching at least 26% increase in 2020

Guess by GE’s logic they will be selling many more gas turbines when the grid utilizes 26% renewable energy! Anybody else see how obviously dumb GE is?

@RpBSmZZ-2pix, keep head bobbing your kook-aid drinking head in agreement with GE’s false narrative if you choose. It won’t save you from this failed company. When renewables keep increasing their grid percentage and you still think more GE gas turbines are needed? Typical GE logic.

@2qgr Maybe (s)he's working on getting out, like I am. Getting another gig isn't the easiest thing to do when you have the GE stain on your resume.

@RpBSmZZ-2edq Only an arrogant thief like you would call that coming out clean. You think you're safe bc you don't work for GE right now? Yeah right that's always how that works. Hope these posts are used against you in the sentencing phase of your trial.

@RpBSmZZ-1bdp Dumber than dumb. I don't work for GE anymore. The next time you think GE management is so awful, remember, they hired you.

There is a way to adjust to the change. Lay off a bunch of people, go through bankruptcy and come out clean on the other end.

You should read your own links dumb bunny,

"Renewable technologies also increase energy security, the report found. Without the additional use of renewable energy since 2005, the EU's consumption of fossil fuels would have been about 7% higher in 2012. The most substituted fuel was coal, where consumption would have been 13% higher, while natural gas use would have been 7% higher, at a time when European gas reserves are dwindling."

First of all, those numbers quoted are savings from an increase not a decline. Since it still makes my point, for the sake of argument let's assume that they are declines in output....

Per that study, Coal was dropping away quickly while NG was declining by 1% a year. That's what everyone thought would happen. GE thought that peakers would be the market for GT's. That's why so much money was invested into the HA's. Too bad, so sad but that's NOT what happened. TODAY coal fired ST's are holding their line and WT's are instead pushing natural gas fired GT's off the grid. That's why our parts aren't wearing out, our customers want to renegotiate their CSA's and they aren't buying new GT's.

NO ONE saw that coming. Not you. Not me. Not Siemens. No one.

: @RpBSmZZ-1rqp GE might have adjusted to the changes if thieves like you werent at the top making criminal deals with phony leveraging to line their own pockets on the backs of good people. We have a crime problem and the authorities need to deal with it before some of the workers do. You are going to prison if you are involved. If you are lucky.

Name one source from four years ago showing your "common sense" that renewable would push GT's off the grid over the coal fired ST's was held by one person let alone common. One. Just one. Double dog dare you.

@RpBSmZZ-1mct. Depends on where you get your news. GE Power leaders have been tweaking their Power Points for years with Fake Forecasts to ensure their bonus, salaries, and retirement golden parachutes. With renewables providing more and more to the grid common sense would tell a baboon that gas turbine demand would fall. The fake news forecast worked because all those GE leaders are laughing as they enjoy $Millions in the beginning of their retirement.

Renewable energy has been exploding during the past decade. In that time, orders have been consistently down for gas and steam turbine equipment. And, again, nobody saw that coming?

No one did. Including you. The idea was that renewables would put a lot of transient power on the grid. More GT's would then be required to even things out. That combination plus environmental considerations would then force coal plants off the grid.

Unfortunately it didn't turn out that way. Instead A LOT of wind turbines were bought and coal plants held their line. This forced GT's off the grid. Did you see that coming? Show me one article from say four years ago predicting that would happen. One. Just one know it all.

You mean the culture of arrogance isn't working any more? What a shame.

Are we supposed to believe nobody saw the industry trend in conventional electrical power production? Renewable energy has been exploding during the past decade. In that time, orders have been consistently down for gas and steam turbine equipment. And, again, nobody saw that coming?

And then we're supposed to believe this long-term health care insurance fiasco was a huge surprise? Of course, nobody saw that coming. Only an epic f%&$-up on the order of $10s of billions!

You lying, thieving criminals! I believe you know where you can stick your Spirit and Letter.

The high and mighty GE. Taken down by arrogance and greed.

GE leadership is getting less and less qualified to manage the company. Who appointed Stokes to lead Power? Not only is he not qualified he has almost zero knowledge of Power Products. Stokes and whoever thought it was a good idea to place him in this position is not qualified to lead GE. Flannery continues the GE knee jerk management strategy. One week he says he wants to break up GE, the next week he decided he was just kidding. Knee Jerk Management. It’s over for GE.
