Our VPSM, who had been with Macy's in sales/management for 15-20yrs, "resigned" right before the holidays a few months ago. Now we have this bird brain, not even 5 years out of being an intern, taking that position starting today. Who is making these decisions?

Management, good luck covering 2 departments (Fine & Fashion Jewelry /Watches) with 4FT and 1PT when the store is open a min of 82 hours a week. Apparently math is not in your wheel house. What happens when you add the extended hours of all the "One" day sales, etc. In the SC store they are going to have to do some serious "praying". Maybe the Store Manager should come out of his Office and work the floor to cover breaks and lunches. This circus act has been interesting to follow!

To the PT5 associate, your last day will be February 2nd OR 3rd, not February 23. Any schedule in the system past that weekend will be deleted. You need to get a clear confirmation on that immediately. No one being cut in general selling works into the new fiscal year which starts Feb 4.

Do you have a listing of how store #584 cosmetics dept will be affected. We lost our Clinique business manager and HR manager. Our store has not been hit terribly hard this time around so far, but all of us in cosmetics are holding our breath.

I'm PT5 & my schedule goes past February. I was told 2 days ago my position is being eliminated on the 23rd (February?) & they might find me another position, but it's not guaranteed.

@Rg3ddlA-2vrp, can’t be sure about that.....since schedules are done so far in advance they had to be input in Dec and were released the first week of Jan, so you can’t be sure until all cuts are announced.

Mini PGA is this..say in Cosmetics in Lancôme you have two FT associates (not counter managers) and there’s one FT position on that line that’s being cut. They don’t automatically cut the least seniority person but they look at service date and last review score, and I think here some other things they look at too. All this adds up into a ranking that tells the company which person to cut. But seniority weighs heavy in the score so usually the senior person gets it any way unless they are a real loser.

This is so very sad. Hard to believe that Macy's has to make so many reductions in the stores. They will turn out like K-Mart as they still have to much fat at the top. They are eliminating so many store associates yet continue to keep the District Teams who since day one are worthless starting the with the DVP'S. Jeff time to take reductions at the Corporate, Regional and District level and leave your employees who are on the front line alone.

If you are fortunate to keep your job you better watch your back as I never thought I would see these kind of reductions.
