Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Co Manager Update

CoManagers, Thank you for a job well done, thru the Holidays and the Year!

These changes are coming about after you have worked extremely hard long, hours and taken time away from your family through the Holidays! Also, after you have probably given up PTO and time off through the year as well.

This is very confidential Information, and all have been threatened that if there is a leak and they can find the individual, they will be terminated. WOW!! What transparency! Maybe the new leadership should learn the Culture! Respect for the Individual, be honest, forth coming and keep the open discussion environment. The UNVARNISHED TRUTH should work both ways and not just up! Maybe your Regional, Market or Store Manager should look to trust in you and tell you the truth if not is this the type of Company that you want to work for?

The Unvarnished Truth!!

  1. Meetings held last Friday with all Mkt Managers, Mkt Human Resource Managers and all Store Managers. (Remember the level of talent in these positions: Several have never run stores at the Market level, but will be making the decision for the future!)

a. Talent discussions were held on all CoManagers. Very subjective discussions and not a very

level set meeting. A lot of favoritism, and buddy system playing out.

b. Not all of the best were selected, a lot of good talent will be lost in this process and not even

be retained as assistant managers. What a drain on talent again.

c. CoManagers were banded within the following catagories:

RED - Not retained or gets immediate severance pay and no time to look for a job. If you

have a coaching then you will fall into this category.

YELLOW - You will get an option to demote to an assistant manager; or 60 days pay and

severence.

GREEN - You will be offered a position. It may not be in your current store; or 60 days pay

and severence.

  1. All Regionals held a conference call with all Mkt Teams, Store Managers, and CoManagers. Basically gave the WalMart talking points.

a. Not a long term position, must be actively applying for stores and has a 3 year longevity.

b. Store Volumes and placement of CoManagers:

$80 million to $90 million dollars in sales = 1 CoManager position

$90 million to $125 million dollars in sales = 2 CoManager positions

$125 million and above in sales dollars = 3 CoManager positions

  1. All levels of management have been through this process Divisionals, Regionals, Mkt Managers, and their counter parts in Asset Protection, Health & Wellness, and Human Resources. (Though most at the Regional level above were given preference options).

  2. All the 1700 Assistant Manager positions that will be added will be in Online Pickup and Grocery Pickup and will not be immediate.

  3. There were Regional Hiring events for assistant manager placement back in November and December. Why if they new that this was coming? This was not dreamed up after New Years.

  4. The week of Christmas there was information that came out in reference to the Policy change on Voluntary Demotion Request regarding Management. Wow there must be a lot looking to get out. Now this change.

You should always be prepared with a resume and the leave for a better opportunity. A lot will stay through this process and be caught up in the same process in future years. Use your time to better yourself and get out of this Company and go somewhere that you will be valued.

GOOD LUCK and WISH ALL WELL with the outcome and the process!!

Go to money network.com and click on the link that says walmart paystub.

I was also locked out of my account and the wm sevrance hotline directed me there.

It worked fine but it has to be the walmart paystub portal or it will not work.

I was a 19 year walmart person with 9 as a co manager before I got the boot! Anyone know how many pay periods it will be before we get our take the money and run payout? Also, anyone else having trouble finding comparable jobs in retail as a former co manager? Would love to have anyone interested in joining my Facebook group called 'Life after Wal-mart!" It is a closed, private group if anyone wants to join. Look it up! Thanks

Has anyone checked on the status of their severance package since they returned it? Can they tell you if it's been received or processed? How did you send it back?

ASCInfo@walmart.com If you email them, they are very responsive in getting back to you with any needs.

No embellishment. Other offers had varying bases in the sixties with 20-30% bonus structure, but vacation varied from two to three weeks. Those were all SM positions.

Hobby Lobby tops off at 68k as a CO MGR (the highest external position with promotion with in 8-12 months) then three is an additional 6k in bonuses you can earn through out the year.

DM positions for small retailers just don't pay anything near what our salaries were.

Tips In case you have not started applying yet:

Most big boxes require personality testing......

Only one company I interviewed with, and that was the final interview, actually used behavioral techniques.

Use LinkedIn to view the profile of the person interviewing you-it helps to understand the interviewers background.

Process from resume sent to offer varied from 2-4 weeks.

If you read the Pto policy the grant is given at the beginning of year but if you are terminated if is prorated for a 15 plus year associate it averages to about 3 days per month so Feb 3 days + March 3 days = 6. On same page of policy it also states maximum days 5 for pay out unless your state has other regulations. So like here in Cali you can carry over 6 days we only earned 6 day for the 2 months so pay out was 12 days

Does anyone know which offices with Walmart to get in contact with if you haven’t received your severance package because you moved? I still have not got mine and it’s time sensitive.

Just an FYI, I have talked to cos in 2 states, each severance pkg agreement is different and has different stipulations in it.

From the mathlete, pto days are made available the first day of the year, Feb 1st. The ones that were let go worked thru Feb 2nd. There is no policy on prorated pto. The company decided what day to elt them go. Therefore WM did screw them out of their pto.

Right, they are mathletes! 20+year associate CURRENTLY employed gets the 30+ PTO days each year......can only carry over 5 so severance was for the "intended 5carried over from 2017" You're terminated in 2018 so you can't add the new year PTO to the severance package.

Waste all the time on defending how they were screwed versus understanding the lack of their knowledge. I'm with you anonymous...... they are idiots!!

Y'all only get 5 days paid out, the max allowed for carry over from previous.PTO grant year. Your "expected" PTO days granted for following year are only granted/useable if you are still employed with them. Taking severance package terminates employment and eligibility for employed associate compensation and benefits.

MORONS.......NO WONDER YOU WERE RED/YELLOW BANDED!!!!

Lots of opportunities out there.....walking into another big box retailer for 75k base with 30% bonus structure paid biannually. Oh did I mention I start with 5 weeks of vacation plus holidays. No where near the intense environment of Walmart and less responsibilities.

I received mine last Thursday but the payment amount was incorrect and not what was on my estimated severance payout form given to me in my discussion meeting. It was short about $8,000. Called associate support, they told me to reach out to my mhrm. Mhrm says she is working on it.

The policy did state initially that you would get paid whatever you rolled over up to five days in PTO. Going with the idea you received 23 PTO days a year, you would have accumulated .42 PTO days a week x 8 weeks = 3.36 days from 2/1-3/30......therefor everyone should have been paid at a minimum for that with any rollover maxing at five.

I'm curious about all the gag order language in the severance package......the company must be pretty concerned that if a group were to get together to seek legal action the payout would be significantly higher than what they are offering. I don't feel they would have an eleven page separation agreement otherwise.

On the PTO payout, for salaried members all we were allowed to be paid was 5 days, according to policy. Hourly associates are different, but the most salaried could be paid were the 5 days. Anything carried over was just lost.

On incorrect final pay issues, associate support says MHRM's have to initiate the correction as they were who completed the gain and entered the incorrect information.

Lawyer meeting next week, does anyone have a copy of pto payout before it was updated on Feb 1st 2018?

They paid the 5 pto listed on payouts but cheated us out of any rollovers we had.
