Sounds like a Pom. Have a comfortable salary yet still needs more to make up for lacking. I believe I've seen that bloke paying for coffee with a corporate Amex card.

Free food ! Wow! So lucky ! We had a vp at bedfont lakes who is still there who gamed the restaurant by combining from the salad bar with hot food to avoid paying the single item premiums. If caught occasionally at checkout claimed he didn't know

Messed up that Cisco does employee appreciation day the same day as layoffs in RTP.

Cisco has grown into a giant company; like a country, there is a hierarchy of "cultural values" and "traditions" between executive and general employee population. The company is so big now, the policies and practices can't and won't change; unless there is an outside influence, such as economic downturn.

Now seeing the other side of life outside Cisco, the size or the company, or the product/business; has little to do with corporate culture.

My realization is humans are a fluke of nature, our conciousnesses and intelligence are facets I honestly don't believe exist elsewhere; as rediculous as that sounds. We have collectively evolved to this point so that the majority of us can chase around a piece of paper called a dollar, so that we can buy things that make us somehow of higher value than other humans.

Employee appreciation day could be similarly lumped into same chase-a-Dollar philosophy; the upper executives in a way pay homage to the masses.

we troops get mails from top levels asking us to praise the bu in g**. so much for that site being a independent and unbiased place for employee reviews.

hr must be facing a tough time attracting good ppl.

So this is something the company throws some money at to make itself look good to the outside world? Using their employees to get a favourable view from outside.

"Great place to work" - I think most know different, particularly in failed acquistion BUs.

Here in building 10, we had some nice free snacks. We are about to head down to the events booth for some nice wine tasting and music. Happy Friday!!!!
