Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Head of GBS says lots of layoff info is "fake news"

Clay J., head of GBS, just brought up the layoffs during his organization kick off meeting. He mumbled through how "things are changing", side-stepping anything of substance and then called the widespread worry and speculation "fake news".

Kill me. The panic brought on by laying off 10K associates is fake news. This org is reaching new levels of insanity every day. It's like the last semi-coherent mutterings of a dying person.

CJ is a little piece of sh--. Literally he is about 5' 1"

I was in GBOS, GIP, profit.... with KP... was a great area, was there for 6 years. Now GBS or GBS Next is a piece of sh--. They are. Going to outsource to india and latam. I am now an RN nurse, so much happier.

I have to say I also docked off most days, had consultants do my work and then owned it.... so true 90% perception, 10% work. Was on 3 projects that failed but still got a promo

haha, I worked in gbos also. Came late, took long lunches and left early. Most people I worked with did the same. Fun while it lasted. Give the perception you were doing big and great things and all was well.

I worked in GBOS, now GBS for 3.5 years. Area is 90% perception. I worked 10 hours a week, had consultants do my work and then I would present it. I got 2 promotions during my time I'm gbos. You have to be well connected to get ahead, which I was. I left when they started GBS india... it will all be going to Bangalore I'm a few years. Bangalore is doing a ton of sap projects

I used to work in GBS and it was the worst position I’d had at Walmart in 10 yrs. I would define the environment with one simple word “abusive”. I’ve never worked with so many people who used emotions to convey ideas. In fact, one of the sr directors consistently received 30s and 40s on their AES over the last several years. Of course they were rewarded with a promotion to officer for their phomenal leadership skills.

I’ve never met one single person who was glad they worked there. Especially that cr&p hole the 608 building. It’s disgusting and should be condemned.

@RDjvaMB-1dhn I never thought of stolkholm syndrome, I wonder what the AES was in those teams. 6+ years ago leadership took AES seriously, what happened?

They seem to think the employees suffer from Stockholm Syndrome. Otherwise, why would they think it's okay to expect employees who survived several rounds of layoffs to continue to do the work of several people and chalk it up to “increased productivity?”

C.J. just inherited a toxic org from King, things are bound to get uglier in GBS with the addition of that leadership team.

How did you like one of his slides featuring a picture of the desk of someone who was just cut in the last round? That was personally my favorite part of the whole thing.

Is this going to happen in the walmart stores also? We have been hearing rumors about closing at 11pm. Gm receiving going away too.

If it’s so fake....why is the h.o. Having all the managers and market people hold meetings to say there is no ‘there There’? They always seem to panic and start the denials before they drop the hammer. Why this stupid company thinks they can keep anything secret in the age of the internet, instant news and social media is beyond me. It is pure arrogance on the part of these morons, at the top, to think we are too stupid to know how to get info and to think there are no leakers at the top. Hell, if the whitehouse can leak why does Wal-Mart think they’re immune to it? Oh right....because they think they are so much better and smarter than the lowly hourly assoc.
