Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

xNDS - There are three in the bed...

...and the little one said - rollover, rollover. 3 PE companies are in the bidding now for xNDS. Who knows which will win but they HAVE all written down their numbers on a hidden ticket. Now Cisco is counting them up. Let's hope it is a company with the skills to put it back where it was as the worlds number 1 PayTV Services and Security Company. The three are P, M and ????

SA had about 10000 employees when Cisco bought them.

When NDS was bought, SA was what? 2500?

Cisco systems reviews in Lawrenceville GA, Glassdoor:

I worked at Cisco Systems full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Base pay and annual bonus are very good.

Cons

Cisco has struggled to remain relevant among the leading IT and technology companies today - do you think of Cisco the same way you think of Google, Amazon, Facebook, Tesla, etc.? I worked in Service Provider Video for 11 years. Since the acquisition of NDS it was all downhill with routine layoffs and a gloomy work environment. Other business units may be different, but I would not recommend SP Video to any of my friends.

Yes thwe decision to shutter GA was based solely on the fact the execs were tired of the question being asked.

Saying Tata Sky has a bearing on a spin-off or sale would mean that anyone we have an existing business relationship would be in play, but that wouldn’t be the case.

Look at what was shown at CES and what recent deals have had the most success. Now look at the tech that did not get mentioned and those who either haven’t had growth or seen recent losses.

I see a chunk of the business related to legacy going out the door, to an L&T outfit. Maybe we see a spin off or a sale to someone in or breaking into the business with some kind of Cisco guarantee. Recent wins with CDVR and IVP give the aforementioned option a bit of weight.

Quarterlies and an SP all hands followed by most managers having their quarterly AMA should shed some light on a direction, if we are taking any that will result in a change of employment status.

Those of you who have it out to smear poo all over this because you’re LR’d or filled with cable hard hatred, and are always late to the cafeteria in Lawrenceville, shut up and go away. You didn’t have any value to add then and you don’t have any to add now.

I have a reliable source that says the BU is being divided out and sold off. Most of the sales center around patients and existing deals. Expect significant layoff and most being transitioned to L&T to help the two new companies onboard existing deals.

Or maybe this is būIIsh¡t, because a lot of this is. Some of you fall for some of the worst FUD around and others spin it up for some of the most petty and childish reason.

Get back to work David.

CC wouldn’t have abruptly left if this were going to end well. He knew also. So much for the fat LR package I was hoping for.

@RDbmQG9-1bvv - Permira only bought 51% of NDS , while Rupert Murdock kept another 49% and had the power to control NDS operation.

Since SPVSS is only a business unit of Cisco, I don't think Cisco can do the same thing as Rupert Murdock did with Permira in 2008. So, cost down can happen.

@RDbmQG9-1zsv - well Permira did not do that. They let the company run as it was before they bought it and they collected their cash for the leveraged loans. They then sold it to Cisco for 5 billion.

More than 400 I would have thought. Jerusalem and chandlers must be more than that. If it's a sale then short term staff probably don't have much to worry about surely? Just a different logo!

I reckon they will say something at the earnings call.

We all know what PE will do after they bought a company. Cost down!!! For example, cut your salary at least 50%...

From internal source, there will be around 400 people cut in this BU in two weeks.
