Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

If you don’t like the H1b program, you have to vote for politicians who aren’t taking corporate money.

Otherwise H1b is here to stay. Too many companies use them to cut labor costs.

Deport and get rid of all these H1B con artists, sure they are stealing jobs, but what's worse is that they are horrible at their job and bring the quality of a company's products down to Indian level.

There might actually be a silver lining to the layoffs. If Walmart lays off a number of H1Bs, there's a significant cost savings to the tune to tens of thousands of dollars per H1B.

It is the way of the Company. It started with the previous CEO bringing a Latino base of management in with him and now the currant CEO has brought a British base in with him (and New Zealand). Out sourcing and hiring associates from India and China is a simple savings plan. Very smart people, have been trained not to challenge leadership and does what they are told and usually no more. Their alternative if not is to go back home to a lot lower paying jobs.

Do not be mad at them, look to the leadership, and the government for making this possible.

@hxv is right the Chutneys want to deflect on Chinese even though there are hardly any Chinese in ISD and indians make up over 10% of Bentonville. We are not that “stoopid” Indians.

@abhn I've seen those posts in several threads, too. But, I'm betting those posts are really coming from one of the Indian H1Bs trying to deflect the focus on the real problem - Indian abuse of the H1B program. We have to call it what it is.

Ok so someone in California needs to get their obviously Chinese psychopath anonymous poster under control. Cmon nothing is truly anonymous on the web so someone please do something with this crazy person. This can’t be a safe work environment for anyone working near this person the views are obviously sociopathic

I wonder if Walmart leadership will take the opportunity to get rid of some H1Bs when they layoff the 1,000 associates in Bentonville the next two weeks? If so, that would be an incredible improvement and show of faith.

They aren’t cheaper. I have seen with my own two eyes, a couple of H1B apps posted in random break rooms in ISD backwards on the wall. The couple I saw were ~90k a year. I think they have to claim that no qualified citizen was found, hence posting in print, in random break rooms, backwards on the wall....

@4wuj They were probably referring to the fact that Indians often eat foods with extremely strong and persistent scents, which have now pervaded the breakroom microwaves because there are so many H1B Indian workers there.

In the 608 building. Indians keep putting pennies in the vending machines and it breaks them.

How many of them own patents or published white papers if they are highly skilled? Same goes to Sunnyvale, San Bruno office as well. It's a shock to see so many sr dir, dir, sr man, manga are Indians who are on visa and won't allow any others to become managers. Not all are highly skilled.

Truthfully speaking most of these h1bs are con artist. They learn enough to (sound) like an expert but most only have elementary skills in their subjects... this is because most of them are fresh out of school with no real world experience other then the sweatshop they work for... just look in the slack channels at how they are so quick and rude to ask for examples and assistance with stuff. Why do you think we do a lot of video interviews now too ?? If there wasn’t video , the Indian would have someone else do the interview for them who actually has experience .... no offense to them, everyone wants a better life, but conning is not the way

It's time for H1Bs to return back to their country for employment. I'm a USA Citizen and I would like to keep my engineering job instead of having it given to an H1B. Trump should cancel the H1B visa program since there is so much corruption (especially by third party H1B vendors who take a share of the H1B employees salary).

When I started at Walmart ISD I made $65k. Why do we always BLAME other races for our own problems. Half of of the programmers who are not H1Bs complain about learning new technologies. I applaud anybody who is committed to continuous learning.

Those Bachelors degrees are not in psychology, communications or hotel management. Most of those degrees are 4 year STEM equivalent programs. Also, All H1B filed by these companies are according to law which was written in 90's and it has to be revisited by gov. and will be done in next couple of months. IT evolved so much in past decade and now it is America's time to invest money for free/subsidized STEM courses instead of on Military. (I am sure US is not at war right now).

How many people in WMT Technology employed by WMT do not have college degrees? I know that there are Directors and Sr. Directors without them.

I've seen h1b's teaching themselves "IT" from youtube and other "online academies." Indian computer studies tend to be very outdated too, explains why 90s ebay legacy leaders love them so much..

Many fortune 100 companies are in bed with 3rd world Indian sh--hole companies.
