Schenectady will never sell or close. That site is a environmental nightmare. It’s cgeaper to keep it open than to clean it up plus they can’t afford to have all the environmental skeletons dug up.

I started at GE Schenectady 20 years ago. One of the first things I heard was the place was going to close. Come to find out, people have been saying that for 50 years. The one thing that Schenectady has going for it is some of the unique machines, both in size and application that they have there. That being said, anything is possible. I hope they do close and offer me a retirement package!!
GE Nuclear division at Wilmington, NC is a good candidate for sale if they can find a buyer. Absolutely no potential for future business.

Your absolutely right about Schenectady. There going to spin it off as a corporate park under a different name so they wont have to pay clean up the brown field. After a few years they will either turn it into another casino or put a amazon distribution center there.

Yes, rumor is Schdy is closing down, or at least being sold off. It won't be needed once GE sells the steam business. It's an expensive, arrogant, and entitled site that is a waste of GE's $$.

How about stop renting office space down in Atlanta? What about just stop building a corporate headquarters in Boston save a 100 mill and they can move to somewhere in Schenectady. Since "Train" bought a bunch a shares how about them bunking up with them in NY NY to make up the 2bill they want to save.
Better yet just close them all up lease and out source all current designs. Screw R&D cost to much farm that out to India and China were patent law is getting "better." Might as well just buy a Hitachi or a Mitsubishi units change a nameplate. Who needs a GE bank lets just spin that off see how it does SYF look they have 2 billion with a B and 30% margins
