@7yfs LOL that is perfect.
This reminds me of when Daewoo was selling cars in the US in the late 90s, and the local dealer had this incredibly low budget ad that had this guy who couldn't sing trying to sing "Daewoo, Daaaaaaeewoooo, Daewoos here and the price is low" in the tune of "Day-O."
After they lost their Daewoo franchise, they went back to being a seedy used car lot. Seems fitting for Sears
I say agree to disagree. Whirlpool is a great brand, and Daewoo is obviously an up and coming good brand as well. We might not know it as well in the United States, but that doesn't mean it isn't a good brand. Remember when Toyota/Hyundai/Honda all started? No one liked those brands either at first, but now they are really well known and responsible for all sorts of jobs in the United States. It's called change and it's never ending.
Daewoo rarely if ever breaks. American trained technicians prefer whirlpool because they have so much experience because of constant breakdowns.
Over hill over dale Korean appliances never fail.
@1bjk- You must be joking. Sure, Whirlpool isn't as good as they were 20-30 years ago, nobody is, but to say Daewoo is a great pick is dishonest.
Oftentimes, you cannot get parts for Daewoo when they break, and the quality is still undisputedly questionable. You have to look beyond the surface. Daewoo, or anybody else for that matter, can make a beautiful product, but go talk with a few service techs or appliance repair business owners and they will tell you that things are different beneath the surface. There are a few Daewoo-sourced Kenmores in divisions 41 and 22. With Whirlpool, they are still consistently held in high regard by so many service techs because they are still building some of the best in the market and when things do go south, parts are the easiest to obtain and repairs are usually a lot easier.
Forget what Consumer Reports says because their model only relies on their impression while testing and for their subscribers to report back any problems. Problems are treated the same whether its a creaking door or a catastrophic failure of an expensive component, it is not weighted depending on the severity of the issue.
The only Korean brand that seems to be improving is LG. According to the techs I know, their front loaders are actually top notch and the ranges/dishwashers are getting better, however, the reliability of their refrigerators still remains questionable due to the use of the linear compressor. Samsung, however, is still a dud.
Daewoo appliances are widely considered to be some of the best. Here on west coast savvy Asian-Americans will Buy Daewoo exclusively. This is part of the reason for whirlpools decline, also part of our transformation to a largely west coast franchise (which is why you see almost no store closures out here despite the higher wages etc)
Smart people will push these high quality units this xmas.
Aren’t microwaves all made by Panasonic and one or two other companies anyway. Daewoo is just the brand.
@ghh Don't take it to heart....everyone has a right to their opinion about Daewoo. Some like the brand, some don't.
@pdx Daewoo doesn't have a good reputation in the States from their unsuccessful entry into the car market in the late 1990s/early 2000s
What’s wrong with Daewoo?
