Movements in GE Additive

Today D.J. head of GE Aviation announced that M.E. is leaving his post as vice president of GE Additive. Some external guy will take the position. The movement is effective January 1st (next Monday). This seems like an extremely rushed movement. Is it everything OK at GE Additive?

This seems like an extremely rushed movement.

Many times sudden Jan. 1 retirements are related to late announcements on how medical coverage is handled in retirement.

@QZ3jYY1-1zjb assessment of ME is correct. He was ready to retire when he was asked to take over Additive. I will say the short time frame of the announcement and transition is a bit odd.

M.E. is one of the GE ‘golden boys’ - he has been installed in many positions throughout Aviation to get sh-- done, plain and simple. From all my experience with him, he is one of the good ones - perhaps a bit too metrics driven, but what can you expect? He was honcho on LEAP, then all of NPI during the peak of the mountain, and has lead Additive since it’s incarnation. He’s been near retirement for a while, and I got the impression standing up Additive was his last task. I wouldn’t take this as an ominous sign - just an expected executive retirement.

@uzg is right. It's just like the money hole that is Predix.

Anyone at GE willing to admit all is not well? yeah, I know, you all have your 6 year car loans, maxed credit cards, and other stupid decisions which make you incapable of seeing the truth, tho it's right in front of your face.

Well, the truth don't care if you're too stupid to see it, you'll get the cold boot of reality in your faces either way.

What @QZ3jYY1-uzg said is consistent with what I have heard. GE Additive is designing and building parts that no body is willing to use because they are too expensive. Latest example is the heat exchanger for a major aircraft.

Whoa there! An external guy is replacing a VP? How can we be sure that we can trust him if he hasn't been through OLMP and CAS?!?!?!?!?!?!? Did HR even make sure he can make a powerpoint presentation?

If you want to know why costs have skyrocketed look no further than GE Additive, a billion dollar manufacturing system in search of a part to make.
