@wtj it’s true. Announcement by Plant Manager this AM. If you work outside manufacturing, you would not necessarily have heard about it yet (but you will).

I’m interested in how GE makes cuts to Engineering in Tech Center, GTTL, etc. (non-manufacturing)...that’s where my bread is buttered

Wow, making people reapply for their own job (that they’ve faithfully done for years in many cases) is a colosally $h!tty thing to do. No better way to lose good, loyal employees than to pull $h!t like this. Even those that survive will seek new employment to avoid working for a company that does horrible $h!t like this. God I need a shower just thinking about these slimy GE execs making these decisions.

Salaried manufacturing got the meeting today. 100% of salaried employees will have to reapply, and 30% will be eliminated. Those who are not eliminated are not guaranteed same position or salary. Additional mention of reduction in force was insinuated, but not officially announced until Tuesday.

Whoever is lying on these posts is a piece of sh*t a$$hole. It's bad enough people are scared to death over their futures and livelihoods. But to come on here and mess with people's heads like that is beyond pathetic. Get an effing life for Pete's sake! I am former GE and I feel terrible for anybody within GE facing this major uncertainty in their lives right now.

I am in Greenville and I can assure you there was NO MEETING this morning to discuss reductions in the workforce. The OP is a prime example of the FAKE NEWS that is pervasive on this site.

@nyk I wish it was Fake News. I really do. We were told about a week to week and a half ago by leaders that GE was no longer pursuing EPC work. We are not a manufacturing facility but rather an engineering office. Good luck to you all.

They should eliminate all salaried on first shift Greenville. That’s an overpaid group that doesn’t earn their paycheck.

Certainly not fake news with us in GE Power. Our whole office is being shut down. All remote offices from what I'm hearing.

I am with -oox, which business or location? Across all of GE sounds low, across one business or P&L might make sense.

800 across the board is no bs number

Ive heard 400, plus all contractors roughly about 300

800 hourly would be around 70% so that’s bs right there, I don’t believe that
