Just had an Uber ride with a young driver who also worked at CVX downtown Houston. As an ex employee we talked a bit. She said DWEP was dissolved and there was a singular GOM group (Houston/Covington). About time, I thought. So two management structures became one. Which legacy group was dominant? What happened to the likes of Thurston, Morris, etc,etc. can anyone share? I was surprised (probably not) and curious of the new org. Share please...

6trt, Yes, I work part time and I am a supervisor. I was laid off from Chevron. I have a better position than I had before, (at least I believe so), better hourly pay, better benefits, and I love my job. I also do not work Fridays. At ALL. No 4-tens, no 9-80, no offshore trips, none of that. Part time. Please don't hate me for getting a sweet gig, I know it's not easy to do. I do still hold dividend aristocrat CVX. How about you?

Team building boondoggles are a complete waste of money at Chevron. The foundational prerequisites in the work culture are not there to make these team building events worthwhile.

Everyone knows that a poor relationship with your supervisor spells a short career. I read the comment from -4lfk about “people without good relationship” to mean something more subjective than what you take as the obvious. I interpret the comment as not having the appropriate level of relationship in regards to how “others” perceive oneself, the affected employee. These are things or perceptions that you cannot control, but work negatively for you when others with influence or positions of power don’t perceive you as having the right kind of relationship (in their view). For example, if a person who holds your career in their hands doesn’t view you as “kissing up” enough to stroke their ego, you run the risk of being on the chopping block. I can list other examples, but you get the idea.

Walmart greeter is a stressful job. Always having to try to be cheerful? I have applied for the job of Zamboni floor cleaner at the mall. On bad days, people won't really notice and yet there is great job satisfaction knowing the tile is spotless after each pass.
People who take jobs as Walmart greeters after retirement, particularly from a major corporation, don't do so for the money. Study up junior. There is plenty of info about retirees and retirement on the internet, where you guys get all of your education these days.........
I was talking to the WalMart greeter in Meyerland who told me as a retiree that he was glad to see........... It was at this point I thought how great it will be to retire and still have to work.
They all got let go because protected SLB drilling providers for years and then brought in Halliburton who are messing the place up with directional and logs
I think our next CEO should be a Uber driver.
