@1lxs Love to know what Sears you work at because in mine (Southern CA) majority of the employees make minimum wage. People that have been in the company for a decade got one raise and thats it after that its all raises forced by the government. Hell even the lead that was their like an year ago was making $2 bucks over minimum wage. Minimum wage caught up and he didn't get a raised other than staying in minimum wage. He was pissed being a lead and making minimum wage he had no perks what so ever just more work to do.

In my store whoever still makes good money are the ASM and Manager. Next inline is Mattresses/Appliances (tools doesnt count because I have talked to some associates that worked in tools forever and they would sell a lot that they sometimes wouldn't see the suppose commission on their paycheck).

I am sorry to hear of more store closing. My store was closed last March. To all of the employees affected by the closing, try and work all the overtime you can. Check on your severance and vacation time. Look at your 401(k) and pension, please do not rush and make decision that you will regret in the long run. Give your self time to process this information. God be with you all.

dont blame an increase in minimum wages killing Sears . Stronger competition pays more than Sears already and makes money.

This isn't the complete list. There is a NJ store missing.

Here's a link to the thread he's talking about and he's right. Everyone on there claimed they made way more than minimum wage and only a loser would work for that level of pay, no one at my store makes that theyre all in the low 20's blah blah blah :

At my Sears store most everyone but the Leads & Mangers make minimum wage. Some long time employees make a dollar or two above minimum but that's it. They should be making $5 OR $6 above but they weren't elevated when our state raised the minimum wage so they essentially lost most of their earned pay increases.

I don't know what Sears YOU are at but here in California all minimum wage. There is a small commission structure for appliances and hardware but largely unattainable at the dramaticly reduced foot traffic that has become the norm. Mattresses has a slightly better structure but - again - to support one's self is out of the question.

Most folks in our store are either supplementing SSI, a spouse's income or are young and in school. Anyone whose sole support has either left already or is seriously interviewing.

No one at sears makes minimum wage, why would that matter?

Read the post from last week entitled “why don’t. You quit?” They scoffed at $17 an hour, said they couldn’t afford to live on that. Then railed about what ash*tty place it is to work and how they cant find another job cause they’re too old or can’t afford the pay cut.

So obviously minimum wage is irrelevant.

Min wage in Oregon and Washington has gone through the roof as well. Very surprised no store up here have been announced this time.

@1lfg was shocked that those 2 states havent mentioned anything, but I know closing in CA is going to happen maybe the are delaying for profit reasons. CA for sure has to close some minimum wage is going up this January and our gasoline went up expect that to slow our damn economy in CA.

@Q3UqrKD-vds I was about to say that it was odd that there was neither CA nor NY stores, two of the most expensive states to run any sort of business, more so in CA. So in laments terms, they don't want to announce it yet because it is going to make them look worse?

After the listed closings we are now down to 453 K-Marts, from a peak of more than 2,100. The worlds slowest liquidation in history continues....

There are additional store closures planned in New York and California but are not yet publicly announced for regulatory purposes related to adverse job reductions. Expect these later this month. Stores will operate normally with clearance sales only commencing in January.

Welp, my Kmart has dodge another bullet. I'm actually surprised no CA stores were closing because our wage is going up to $11 an hour starting Jan. 1st. Guess they are waiting until after the 4th Quarter, which is probably going to be very UGLY.

Still though, another 45 closed, not good man, not good. Plus I think they even omitted a few that closed and not on the list. So it's probably closer to 50 closed.

Good post OP. Sears, like many companies now, is actively engaged in trying to hide the truth from the public.

SOOOO many layoffs going on that corporations are trying to hide. Even tho Sears' failure is public, it's far worse than they're admitting.
