Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

Layoffs confirmed for 10/4

Layoffs are coming on 10/4 and a second one in Mid December. Rooms have been booked in the Santa Clara offices for HR actions on 10/4. The 10/4 seems to be a smaller event but the mid December seems to be a MOAL (mother of all layoffs). This is very scary times for the company as all of the VPs could not get any sh-- done and seems Elliott Management is on a warpath to reduce costs and improve profits. They want to exit their investment in the company by 2Q2018.

The VPs have told their underlings to freeze all expenses so absolutely nothing can be purchased or any travel without the VPs approval.

Maybe the quietness at the company has lulled the employees into a false sense of security but rest assured the shoe will fall and fall very hard in 2017.

Too bad...it was a good company at one time before elliott management destroyed it.

It is confirmed, a newly formed team of high quality skillset people is dissolved in just six months. A few of them joined from outside of Citrix. They are in terrible situation as they left their previous jobs around 3-6 months and now they don't have job here either

Looking at the California Layoff law, aren't they suppose to,provide 60 days notice before a lay off?

Today was the quietest day I've ever had at Citrix. no emails, no replies, no anything.

looks like everyone is waiting for something to happen and so completely paralyzed .

In the UK there has to be a consultation period if you’re getting rid of over a certain amount of people. They would still be given notice on the same day as everyone else in the company, it just gets dragged out. If there is a second date in December then it’s not to do with UK laws.

Takeover announcement is highly unlikely. It would be kept quiet for disclosure reasons. This event is looking like purely major layoffs. The December reference is likely UK layoffs since it takes a long time to fire people in the UK once you notify. Other countries might have similar long notification periods.

Hmm maybe the 10/4 is the takeover announcement and the mid December is the actual layoffs due to the takeover.

Sounds like the layoff anxieties will hang over our heads all the way till the December holidays

yes rooms have been booked by HR, so either news on layoffs or some other big news, possibly takeover?

Is this why so many of the rooms in SC building 1 are booked on the morning of 10/4. Usually nothing goes on tuesdays at that time. Will remote workers be told on the phone?

Going on this roller coaster again

Crap, time to sharpen the resume and start interviewing .

There is just too much uncertainty and anxiety at ctx. I think the best thing is to get the resume ready and just don't look back at this debacle .

It's time to look elsewhere and go forward. There is no future at ctx

Wow, everyone is on edge here not knowing what to think or expect and someone has to come in on their high horse. This was not the norm with Citrix years ago.

We all know it’s what happens these days, but should we be happy about it? No! We have families to feed, and we go to a job doing the best we have always done even with all the changes, that clearly haven’t been for the better.

@1kqn: Bro, I don't think anyone here doesn't realize that this happens in "Corporate America". Just because we realize that it's a common occurrence doesn't mean we have to be happy about it. And it wasn't previously "normal" for Citrix. It's happening now because management ran out of organic growth from the core products, can't figure out how to keep increasing revenues, and now we have a board that's no longer aiming for growth.

You are all acting like this isn't normal at pretty much every corporate company. If you don't like layoffs, stop working for corporate companies. It's what they do, always have and always will. It shouldn't be a shocker. If you hate layoffs, seek out startups and smaller businesses where layoffs aren't part of their world. If you stay in corporate, you should really never have your mind blown by this kind of thing. Jobs become redundant. People are always replaceable. Even top performers may no longer be needed. Welcome to the world of CORPORATE AMERICA. If you hate the constant layoffs you're all welcome to leave Citrix at any time. No one is forcing you to stay there.

Does anybody remember what the previous severances were? Seems like lifetime ago but the hurt still seems to be there. Anyways if anybody remembers the severance it would be helpful in planning for the future

something is definitely going on near term and long term. Kirlll firing, and now Sartorius and Campo "retiring", the whole thing smells fishy and maybe these layoff will be the beginning of the end.

its too bad

I suspect whatever is happening will be started next week. But depending on where you are in the world it could take many months to finalize due to local employment laws. So the Dec date is more likely just when some process would come to an end, rather than it being two discrete events. Q1 2015 was like that.

There are the strangest promotions and reassignment of people in the company right now. People that have no backgrounds for their new jobs are being placed in format reqs while people that have little skills or experience are being promoted . The higher ups are not responding to any emails and are hunkered down in their offices or secretive meeting places. The only rationale is VPs are protecting their favorites to keep them sheltered from the next layoff. CTX is looking like office space .

Maybe it's best to face the inevitable, accept the layoff and not worry about this job or company anymore. Too bad this will happen, it was good while it lasted.

@udg will there be only 2? How about the proverbial "Death by a Thousand Cuts"...

I am sarcastic here, but I am not looking forward to the next week.

It's comical and sad that in light of people losing their jobs and a means to support their families, there a tons of "promotions" going on right now W...T...F? How can anyone in their good, decent, human being mind justify any kind of action at this time. Next week will be a sad week for many, I think it's cruel.

Quiteness, constant secret meeting, looming and scattering VPs, slow responses to emails that would typically take 24 hours ... at Citrix usually means LAYOFFS.

Hard to imagine how any work (or quality work) is expected to get done with this black cloud looming over CTX. At minimum - I hope it's a decent exit package - this WAS a great place to work.
