Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Confirmed: More layoffs and job restructures are coming

I have a contact at home office that has given me the following information: The final phase of the layoffs will be rolled out in Jan but not go into effect until after Feb. Membership manager and lead will officially go away. A new grocery manager position will be posted. Jewelry lead, backroom lead, receiving leads will all be eliminated. Claims will be the only full-time position in the backroom left on day shift other than part time only. PTC will also be eliminated, drug test going away, background checks are done thru email, each mgr will be responsible for hiring and training their own associates and managing their time adjustments, schedules, exceptions etc.. APMs will take on new roles with a name change of experience protection still being debated. Merch ops positions eliminated in lower tier clubs.

I did the work of three people. I could out work you any day of the week. I do my job in the receiving office, which includes some of everyone else's job, plus I work on the dock and help in claims ALL the time. I also help out on the floor, bakery, cafe, etc.

For every receiving clerk or team lead that actually works there are plenty out there who do nothing. Our receiving office clerk can't even drive a lift so she's useless when it comes to getting work done on the dock. The team lead and her usually sit around in the office complaining about the one truck of water they have to do this week.

PovqAp4-1qcfn. i agreed with you up to the point of degrading mgrs. if you think they “don’t care” then you need to think again. Mgrs have had their job threatened by total bs over and over. much of it created by hourly assocs. you have absolutely no idea! mgr eval has nothing to do with performance just numbers which means money. w/m and sam’s want ALL long term higher dollar associates gone including GMs. hourly will be p/t that really doesn’t care and young MITs promoted that are cheap and will be gone in two yrs and don’t know crap. unless one falls into either category get out if at all possible or prepare for “layoff” or in mgrs case just simply let go for “cause”. it is happening and will not stop. thank the senseless Roz and her stupid dumb as team and now especially this Giselle who is actually running Sam’s. John F is in total agreement but is her sidekick. She ruined WM and now is taking down Sam’s and the associates that built it. They have ruined many families and lives. unfortunately i’m sure their Christmas will be wonderful

To the clueless idiot who tells me to quit complaining and go find another job to make room for those who want to work. I would love to be that fly on the wall when you get screwed over. AND YOU WILL. First of all, I have dedicated over 28 years of my life to this company. They owe me more than a paycheck. They owe me respect and to be treated with dignity. I don't feel its very respectful to keep everything so secretive. I don't think I'm being treated with dignity to be offered a lower paying job emptying trash or pushing carts. I'm not saying I'm too good to do that but I am a little older now and there are some things I just can't do anymore. As far as not wanting to work, who the hell are you to judge me? I did the work of three people. I could out work you any day of the week. I do my job in the receiving office, which includes some of everyone else's job, plus I work on the dock and help in claims ALL the time. I also help out on the floor, bakery, cafe, etc. My job knowledge and knowledge of the company makes me a huge asset whether you believe that or not. When managers constantly come to me for answers or to get the job done, that says something. And whether you believe it or not, this company is failing. It's NOT about member service, it's about money. If you're too stupid to believe that, you're in for a surprise. Lol! As for me, I'll take my buyout and enjoy my sress-free life. I do sympathize with the ones who can't retire but I'm sure they will be okay. Sam's Club is no longer a great place to work like it was when I first started. The managers no longer care about the people or how the club is ran and the new hires certainly don't care. We may as well have revolving door. This certainly isn't the company Sam Walton created. He would be ashamed and disgusted about the greed and the way the associates are treated. So for All you a--hole who think otherwise, you WILL find out. Lmao!

This seems to be true but we will wait and see. Every one I try to reach out to says the same bull crap. "this is all being done to have more time for member service". Not a single yes or no answer.

I spoke to my GM yesterday because the guys came in to check the room for the new machine coming in (accounting). He said the whole point was so we could spend less time the office and more time on the floor so we could be more member oriented. I called bullsh!t. And my poor boss, been with the company 20 years and is just getting screwed.

The formula for Success at Sam’s is simple. In a war you cannot Kill of your troops who are the ones actually fighting the war. The associates and managers in the store are the ones actually doing the job. Sam’s has too much people who work at market level or positions that you might never hear about especially in the optical, pharmacy, fresh and specialty areas. There are too much layers of market managers who get a free car and make well over 200k. Cut back in all your generals externally from the store and you will save lots of money. Give back to the stores all the money you saved by taking off layers of people who don’t work at Store level. Market managers and all these external people who work for Sam’s just show up on visits to verify their existence by saying “ I found a paper in your parking lot”, “ I had to push a shopping cart that was blocking my path”. Sam’s is a fun place to work at but the external folks who work for Sam’s burn your time up by having visits that end up with no solution.I hope some share holders reads this. “ Don’t Kill off your soldiers , reduce your number of generals who are not in the stores.

For the negative ones: Find a new job! No one is making you stay. You make a choice every single day to go to work. If you don’t like it I suggest you find something else. You make it miserable for the rest of us. No one owes you anything except for the paycheck every two weeks that you’ve worked. And let me guess your going to say it’s not enough money... no crap - it’s retail. Go use your college degree to do something else... oh wait. Maybe move up and be the change or give good feedback instead of what is always wrong. No one wants to listen to the negative Nancy’s. Waste of my time posting on this thread from the read of it most of you won't get it anyway too busy playing poor me or recycling what’s already been said. Sam Walton isn’t turning over in his grave because of the company staying proactive with moving jobs he’s turning over because you all are acting like a fool and not curious as to why amazon is ahead, or why members use coscto against us. That’s what should keep you up at night. Move a few for the greater good. Or, Keep the few positions that hold us back and we will be in line with the Kmart folks. Ptc, accounting tl, receiving clerk account, claims and whatever else you want to drum up for the rumor mill account for one person in each of those roles in a club of about 150 and account for 40 hours apiece. Move those people and we have more hours on a front end in a fresh area or on the floor where members are begging for help to buy stuff they can’t find. But whatever let’s not stay up to date. Let’s try and cry and keep everything the same so we can just all go down. Great idea folks!! Let’s blame everyone else because it’s working great for us so far.

Long time ago I could see myself working long term for Sams... then they took away produce lead n offered me pt cashier such a slap n the face was able to get pt mss did that for about 6mos n then landed invoice clerk... to watch them bring back produce position... yea... what a croc of $#!T!!! not sure how it is in other clubs but I'm on the dock receiving most if my day I set aside my last hour to get files n order schedule appts and clean up n ready for the next day... N now ghost Niagara appts... HO is trying to run each club from Arkansas good effn luck! Too many factors go ahead eliminate another faithful associate who takes the daily challenges but still smiles n treats vendors n drivers with respect when they come in... claims daily struggles n we have 2 associates if it drops to 1 n they have to do my job and theirs... wow slave wages it is

Sam's is garbage!! Been there 23 years and I hate every single day There!!! I'm the meat team leader they want a sh-- ton done, with little help mettle support, a fresh manager that knows nothing about fresh, our market fresh manager knows nothing of fresh. Our starting pay is garbage, hired a cutter 2 years ago awesome cutter knowledgeable, we hired another cutter 2 months ago with little experience, makes a dollar more then the guy that has been there 2 years. Plus all the grocery stores , BJs, Costco, all start off With better pay. So we get stuck With there sloppy leftovers. With the 2% joke of raise what's the since of staying and giving 100%. The PTO is a joke, we long term associates lost a ton of hours, we can only use our sick time (if we use all of our PTO, and personal time) if a family member is sick. WTF that's my time that I work for but can only use it under there circumstances. I'm rambling, but I HATE SAMS CLUB!! Costco will (is) destroy us.

Sam's is Walmart! Sam Walton knew what the secret was... and loosing the focus on the people will be their undoing. I will spend my money elsewhere. I am sorry for all of you. Leap, go find other employment. There is life after Walmart.

And they wonder why the membership numbers are down? They don't give us the information we need. They don't give us equipment that works out in the field when you do membership drives. We are left looking like idiots with IPads & software that doesn't work. They set goals and constantly change them, making the goals unobtainable. Then they undercut what we can offer with all of the online offers. They lie to us about so many things.

Employees aren't trained and yet get coached for not doing their job correctly. The list goes on and on!

This is very reliable they have already done some of it think about don't be a fool.. They r always complaining of payroll they r trying to push the long term associate out and this company is totally doing There moto is in business for small business what's suppose to be , but give associates the boot Associate that have Dedicated there livelihoods to this company who cares nothing about them they will soon fall like toys r us , sears and kmart Costco will sweep them u der the rug watch in see !!! All of the majority of the big markets mgr have left don't be fooled by there lies .this company only cares about fastest roll over less associate less payroll more of a profit but don't worry It won't survive No one will pay for a membership when they have to deal with less service when they can just sit at home order there stuff off amazon and not have to deal with the hassle of coming in to Sam's .

Who needs a membership card? NO ONE. You can use any body's card. We were told not to question members for using someone else's card. This is what happens when no one has the b a l l s to tell members they need to have their own card. Do we even need door greetets? Ask any cashier, they will tell you 9 out of 10 use someone else's card. No joke, why bother. This is what Sam's has become.SHAME.....

there’s no memb/marketing necessary therefore whose the mgr managing or the lead leading. it will all be outsourced or turned over to 3rd party as most everything is. just look at the online promos. anyone walking in is easily taken care of at the front desk.

Membership is what keeps the clubs open.... cancelling join and save events, scaling back business focus weeks, moving membership manager to grocery "for the holidays" 'this all adds up. Bye membership/marketing team.

I fell betrayed and used! It seems in the last few years of the twelve I've worked at Sam's Club things were being taken away. I was full time and they took that away! Life insurance! And I could go on! I think of my investment like my 401! I'm done! I'm going to work and put an end to my Computershares, come October get rid of dumb insurances. I believe I should look for another job! They told my boss to NOT say "sorry" to us! This is why I could never give them 100%!
