Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Craftsman tools at Lowes

Stanley Black and Decker said this morning that they will be rolling out next years Craftsman Tools at Lowe's.

I can't image anybody is going to Sears to buy China made tools when they can buy Craftsman American made tools from Lowe's.

It is over.

Yep....doesn't make sense to be miserable if you don't have to be right?

Okay so why worry if there is nothing you can do about it? Why the drama? Nothing is the end of the world...only the end of the world if you are seriously sick. That is something awful. Take it day by day and see what happens. Do the best you can and when change comes just deal with it as best as you can. If we have to find different jobs in the future, so be it. We wouldn't be the first people who had to find different jobs.

Is Lowes going to discontinue Kobalt?

The pension gets the royalties not Sears.

No. It's definitely a massive problem for the stores. Especially the ones who are near a lowes and ESPECIALLY if this craftsman deal applies to the lawnmowers as well. Kenmores on amazon, craftsman tools at lowes. That's a big deal for the future of sears retail stores. And it's happening as soon as January.

Why cause concern for something that hasn’t happened yet?

Might be a nothing burger.

It's horrible news for the stores. However, sears is continuing to get paid off the deal. They get a cut of all the sales and sears (or whoever owns the remaining rights in 2 years) will be getting another 250m. It's really really bad news for the sears stores though. Especially since lowes is the biggest competition for the store metrics. It'll probably put even more stores on the chopping block unless sears adjusts its expectations next year after the changes.

Sears can still source their tools from China per the agreement with Stanley Black and Decker.

Okay something doesn't make sense here. Craftsman was bought by Stanley & Decker, so they are making tools for both Sears and Lowes. Why assume the tools at Lowes will be made differently than the tools at Sears?

Obviously szj hasn't compared the declining quality of Craftsman tools to the serious strides Harbor Freight has made in quality in the last couple years. They've seriously stepped up their game. Hands down their "pro" line of hand tools is better. Their tool storage is of significantly higher quality. And just in the past several months they've released majorly improved cordless tools that are going to give others a run for the money if the durability is as good as the build quality appears to be.

Harbor Freight? Seriously? They're one step above buying your tools at the dollar store.

I can't imagine anyone buying Craftsman at Sears when you can buy a better quality tool at Harbor Freight at a significantly lower price. Sears lost this game a long time ago.
