Reliable sources out of GE Power in Schenectady, NY have received word from the corporate brass that major job cuts are coming to Schenectady. This should come as no surprise to the people who work there who have witnessed the work environment deteriorate over the past few months. Many areas around the plant are seeing less. And less work. Morale is very low on both the Union side as well as the management side. The Schenectady site has already gone through some job slashing on the white collar side, but this impending layoff will effect blue collar workers and white collar workers the same. This layoff will be massive in scale to any layoffs in recent memory. Although this may seem like all doom and gloom, there is still a bright spot. The McDonalds on State Street is hiring and I hear the McRib might be coming back soon.

GE needs to get rid of the G scale. It's so sad 😢 these people are getting over on the company big time and taking 2 45 minutes break a day and some people don't do squat. Too much politics
My understanding is that every competitive tier employee accepted their job knowing full well of the existence of a two tier shop. like it or not, right or wrong, every competitive (T Rate) wage employee left some situation to come to Sch'dy, voluntarily.
To the lazy f--- b--ching about two tiers, and about bosses pushing for work. You are probably the problem with this company sitting on your a-- not doing sh--. All day.
I hope I'm there to see the Porche SUV drive away.
GE has to file with the state if the layoffs will exceed X number (250? I forget the number)

They have not done so yet.
Original post seems well manicured but still includes grammatical and punctuation errors... I don't trust it.
Big conglomerates can't compete. Smaller, faster, and frankly more fun, companies that don't give the gilded corner offices Porsche SUVs are better positioned to survive.
Forger McDonalds. After you run out of assets just go to the Social Services building right there near GE and get on welfare and just sit back and collect..no taxes, no work. sit back and watch Jerry Springer drink beer and berp...NY encourages that
"Reliable sources" That hide in the shadows...What bullsh!t>...Not saying layoffs aren't a possibility, just nobody knows for sure.
Why has anyone stayed at SCHY after the decades (literally) of continuing layoffs, poor work environment, high cost of living and low quality of life...WHY?
@qwc I assume you're still paying your dues, though. The union agreed to that travesty, and anyone on the lower pay tier should refuse to pay them anything for such negligent "representation."
GE stock is performing terribly and the company as a whole is in a terrible spot. In Schenectady the managers keep pushing us and telling us they need more work out of us or the work will go to another plant. If the company is in such dire straits how can they justify their CEO being paid $33 million in 2016 ALONE!!!!! It makes me sick to work at a job with a 2 tier pay scale. In Schenectady we are working next to our coworkers and doing the same job but making $10 less an hour....it is unethical. Maybe for once GE should consider doing the ethical thing and invest in their workforce. Who knows maybe things would get done faster and run more smoothly with a happy workforce. Morale is way more important than the “brains” think....
I Feel That This post could be true! The morale is very low and no one feels secure at GE Power white and blue collar. American workers can not just work for a great company anymore because there is not any left. But At least McDonald’s is hiring, but the McRib might not be coming back.

Denial much?
Denying will not solve or fix anything for you, especially when you are laid off.

hourly or salary, or combination if both?
