LOL @3nxc you are funny. My best laugh in the whole labor day weekend. Who says Qualcomm is dying hahahaha...
when someone leaves I wish them well, good health and success. You never know where the future will take you or them. Competition is healthy for all. It refines our knowledge and process of learning and discovery. With that said good luck to you at Apple and your new future. For those at Q stay focused on your skill and future here. There is much uncertainty with the lawsuit and acquisition but now is the time to excel and draw upon the best of each of you as we go through this. Whatever my career future will be I choose to give my best at work not just for Q but for my integrity and self-esteem....
Good advice. Never tell them where you went when you go.
I had an employer go ballistic when the competition hired me away once. Seems they had an off the books (and illegal) agreement not to poach each other that I broke.
When you resign with an offer from Apple, would you disclose to Q that you are going to Apple? A friend who made this mistake was harrassed by his manager and HR on the way out and HR told him they could sue him if he recommends a Q engineer in a 1-year interval after the resignation date. The guy regretted a lot for being honest.
Mav took a couple key players from a group upstream of mine, and it really hurt development of Nazgul.
There are so many key contributers that don't get the pay and recognition they deserve here, that are rope for the picking, and Q is doing nothing to stop it.
I really think the 10th floor no longer cares.
Good choice and good job passing the rigorous Apple interview. Many Q hacks would not be able to survive 10 minutes. Q is a sham. Look at the leadership that's left behind. Good ones already left to Intel and Apple. What a joke
The reason Q has been able to create this type of sweatshop is because it's the only game in town (San Diego)
Qualcomm is superior to Apple and the weather is better in San Diego for outdoor activities. So stay at Qualcomm to build an awesome career.
Every young engineer should seriously consider his/her career plan now. Working in this withering industry is hopeless. Look at those old walking dead meat around you. Can you imagine you will be just like them in 10 years. Don't forget you are still young to jump the boat. Time is your most precious resource. Staying here is a career suicide.
Bay area for the win.
You have a choice between a job that looks great on your resume in the bay area (assuming you are a contributor or can BS your interview) or living in constant fear at Qualcomm.
Much easier to pay rent than worry about getting stabbed in the back after years of making your manager look good.
@nvt. I agree that bay area is crazy place to live. But which company is in san diego for us? There is none literally.
I overheard that Q will cancel the Spring review next year onwards and promo/bonus will take place only during Fall review.
Nice move against Apple's Blitzkrieg!
Q is done
Yes, Apple is actively looking for Q engineers, only the brightest ones, they are searching on LinkedIn and contacting potential candidates in a fast paced technical interview schedule that villagers, pet-like and lickers would not pass the first 10 minutes. They really nailed down an aggressive strategy to completely level down Q to ashes, they will attack Q in all levels, legal, financial, resource, talent, you name it.
