Thread regarding Advance Auto Parts Inc. layoffs

Stop telling everybody to leave

Telling people to stop complaining and leave is neither constructive nor fair. Some of us don't have the luxury of just packing up and saying bye-bye to AAP. I can't move due to family reasons, and to say my options are limited where I am would be an understatement. I keep hoping things will get better, but until they do, at least I have a place to vent occasionally. So I am really glad that you are ten times better off someplace else, but kindly stop rubbing it in, okay?

No dummy here. Sound like you figured it out.

A franchise sell brands required and follows guidance. May not be called a franchise but that is what it is if you stock and follow the guide lines.

Move on but careful on who is the dummy. Mr. Napa. Good luck!

"So what you are actually saying is that you are overpaid based on your ability and therefore need to stay, or, you lack the confidence to take control of your future. People like you are part of the problem at AAP... no intention of improving the company as long as a paycheck keeps showing up. Typical .

That statement sums up about 99% of the workforce at AAP. If that weren't the case you'd see actual improvement. Since that is not the case you can come to your own conclusion.

Dummy,as an ex independent there is/was no franchise. They would not franchise anyone because that would guarantee an exact area or town, city, county etc,and keep out Advance Stores. In my case Advance went after everyone of my customers, they data mined Exploris and knew everything about my customers, pricing, history everything and made them great deals on most lines to kill me off.Well it didn't work, they had no inventory or expertise,I'm now a NAPA store and couldn't be happier.

It's pretty simple. If you don't like the comments then don't read them.

This main post and a response made me laugh.

Just because it's during your working hours doesn't mean it is for everyone so I wouldn't jump to such conclusions.

It's obvious that several of us that left find humor and joy knowing that AAP is sinking. Everyone has a choice and if you choose to stay then that's fine. If you decide to leave all the power to you.

Unfortunately you have to post anonymously on this site. If I could post my real name without the post getting removed I would. I have nothing to hide, believe me. Sounds like the one reponse talking about getting on with our lives is passing his or her views as choices everyone would make. That's simply not true and you cannot speak on behalf of all of us previous employees and what decide to do with our free time. I find it more humorous it appears to have bothered you so much that we can speak freely with that whole freedom of speech thing we are exercising.

Those of you stuck working crap jobs for crap pay say you have no choice but to s--- it up and stay? You are idiots. As a shop owner I have options of who I want to buy parts from, and it is no longer Advance Auto Parts. And this is true for many of us independents, we can pick and choose what we buy and when we buy from who ever treats us right. It is not always about price. That being said, if I want to check this sight from my desk as I order parts for customers cars, I can. I have no one looking over my shoulder telling me what I can and can not due with my time. So, if you have a job you hate, leave, or better yet, show what you are really worth by starting your own company, then decide who you want to blame for your success or failure. This question answers itself.

Remember this is the internet, and people can say whatever they want with no accountability. Consider that those who say they're better off now, somehow find the time and energy to post about it during working hours.

Also seems inconsistent that anyone who is truly better off would bother to visit a layoff website to post about it. When people are doing better, they almost always just get on with their lives, not take the time to post about it on a layoffs site.

If the pay you are getting is worth the aggravation then consider yourself one of the fortunate ones, as its no different then any other lying thieving company that considers understaffing and over working existing employees is the best way to save money and keep shareholders happy and the CEO keeps getting his fat pay checks and extra considerations as the stock value keeps going down. I personally have no care for this company and hope it keeps dropping like a rock.
