Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

How will Cisco do?

Here's hoping that 16th brings good news. With all the layoffs rumors, it would be nice to get some good news and be able to relax at least a little bit. Not that I thing good results will mean no layoffs, I am just hoping they will either reduce or slow them down...

During the earnings call. we'll hear the same drum beat: Gains in new technologies like security, which adds to nothing considering it's small number, challenges in key segments like SLED, sideways blame on the new administration and totally lame excuse, continued movement toward annuity model, which is mice nuts and not a long term fix for this company. They'll provide ambiguous guidance that will avoid any blame on the company's inability to execute, then lay down the frosting and announce layoffs. This is the good news the street wants to hear. They know Cisco is in a death spiral.

Do you know how many ex Madge people work/worked at Cisco and also part of many acquisitions/spin-ins ?

I liked JC but CR, I wouldn't p!$$ on him if he was on fire

The earnings call will be the same old manipulation of the numbers. Rev down, eps up, dividend increase, 5% cut in workforce, more BS about becoming a software company. Wall Street just want to hear, what they want to hear.

We're on the brink of a big drop in revenue in the next 12-18months. It will be the turning point for Cisco and one I fear we won't ever recover from.

I can tell you in my BU that there are a lot of panic-striken VP's running around yelling at people. I'll leave the rumors out of this, but the signs and behavior are ominous for the results.

Furthermore, some more successful parts of our BU have had staggering growth "numbers" dumped on them (obviously to cover some other P-O-S product that's had a big miss).

What, dial back Wall street's lofty expectations? Talk about challenging economics, how dare they. Only beat by a penny, again, absurd. Company performance has some to do with LRs, a lot more is product cycle, evolution and acquisitions. How many HRs, Accounting, Support etc do you need? If you are acquired and not integral than you should actively look to move to where you are. That's just business. Ask a any TokenRing expert.

Beat by a penny,

then LR the many.

Just like...

Bust the deal,

Face the (LR) wheel...

Agree with @OMvKSoC-thl. Probably beat the (albeit rubbish) guidance by a cent or two and issue another negative guidance warning for the next quarter like they have done with the last number of quarters. Same playbook.

Beat estimates by a penny. Guidance is challenging
