Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

New Grad Moving On

I'll be graduating this month and was to start in June. This board has provided all kind of warning flags that I made a poor decision. As a result, I informed Conocophillips that I am rescinding my acceptance. I have received and accepted an offer from another E&P company.

Just what we need. More useless HR overhead. Not. Just more self-interested empire building. HR GM has been the turd in the COP punch bowl for far too long. Time to show her the door and bring integrity back. We all know how she earned her promotion. She is morally bankrupt.

We do have offers out to at least three people for HR positions in the area I work. I have not been informed of anyone backing out of an offer and all three will be arriving before July 1st.

Would you please let me know when you rejected the offer?

Thanks

My dad was able to get me on last year. Big mistake. Dad is thinking about taking the package this year. I am not going to hang around. The last few years have been hard on him.

Was an IT new hire. Offers have been extended to both new hires and interns since last fall.

This site may be viral on campuses all over. What college student would want to work for this outfit. Just another reason for ELT to move on after destroying company value the past 5 years. Their legacy will leave COP wounded for decades ( if we are still a going concern).

I think you need to recognise it was sarcasm from the 'fund manager' for the supposed 'New Grad' (which no offers have been made from HR) merely to highlight how fake many of these posts are here,

I would think that an intern and billion dollar fund manager would be smart enough to not make decisions based on a board that's an avenue for people to vent. I have nothing bad to say about COP, but can relate to the overall resentment my colleagues have over the seemingly endless layoffs, one after the other. In the end, I think the company is moving in the right direction, and probably doesn't need or have room for shortsighted new grads, or supposeded billion dollar fund managers with "the board" on speed dial.

Now, that's where the next cuts should be, the bloated HR organization!

You made the right decision, and by researching this company you are already

smarter than most of the new grads this company hires. Most of them are friends of friends

and aren't very technical, just play politics and are disrespectful.

I am in HR and we made no offers. Therefore, no offers could have been rescinded. Just saying, your post is cute though.
