Thread regarding Advance Auto Parts Inc. layoffs

Commercial Business?

Advance claims they are in the commercial business but no one in upper management understands the commercial business!

Walk in to any Advance store and order 10 different Heavy Duty belts for a few different over the road trucks with say a Detroit, Cummins and maybe a Navastar engine.

Then you will see that at the most maybe a Distribution Center will have possibly 2 at most and that would be CQ DC so they would have to be ordered. Then see if those two that come in are correct for the right application because that person that looked them up may very well be an 8.50 hr. driver.

While your there order 12 cases of Rotilla oil and see how much they have in the store and the commercial pricing!

Then check with the blue and gold folks down the street and you will see who is in the commercial business!

And your wondering why all the layoffs?

I'm a CQ Independent store owner. This morning my best fleet customer let me know he is changing his filters over to NAPA after being a loyal customer for well over 10 years, spending over $2K/month on filters alone.The issue was not price, service, or availability. It was from not knowing what was going to be in the box. He showed me 3 filters from me that were all the same number. None were identical to the other and were obviously different manufacturers. I've had enough of this AAP BS. I'm leaving this outfit that is clueless about commercial customers. I'm not here to sell air fresheners and car wax.

Same people who said keep the wheels turning but had the car stopped and e-brake fully engaged.

@1bwc - agree 100%, especially on 'no consequences' - it's pathetic

Come on, what's to know? We can sell pickles and cashews too! (Sorry, I dated myself). Do you think the folks at Amazon are commercial guys? Yet, watch out. Did Pitt grow up in the automotive industry and "know commercial?" Or any automotive? Yet they have grown to be bigger than either of us were.

Besides, BC said all the Distribution Centers would be integrated in 2017. Wait, you mean that's not going to get done? O well, there will be no consequences.

In seriousness, you point out something AAP has struggled with. Finding the right balance of people that have deep automotive experience and deverse retail experience. The acquisition of CQ should be documented for future generations. You read about cultural fit and this is the flagship example of what not to do.
