If Cisco buys HPE, I would quit the same day the announcement is made.

A great idea.
I have a bit more transformative proposition: Let's have IBM, Intel, Cisco, HP, Oracle and let's say Verizon, all merge into one big blob of legacy clusterf**k - that way analysts will have to track a single declining trajerctory and we'd be able to rip off the band aid much faster.
How does this sound?

Came here from the HP forum since I've been hearing it too. Never thought I'd work for cisco
Why on earth would they buy HPE? That makes no sense at all. But wow, talk about layoffs......it would go from bad to nuclear.
Really? I thought HPE is going private, buying themselves
Combining two pieces of sh!t doesn't give you a better company. It gives you a bigger piece of sh!t.
A desperate move, if nothing else.
I can confirm that terms are being finalized.
@zaw my thoughts exactly. Cannot like it here it's a bummer, I did share it though :-)

We need TheLayoff Gold - I haven't laughed like this in a long time! I'd swap in AT&T in place of Intel though. Knowing Compaq, DEC, SGI, Sun and other historically significant companies are hidden in the mix makes it somehow even more satisfying.
As an angry customer of all these companies I'm sad to say I don't think anything much better would form in the resulting vacuum. While I have unsubstantiated theories I'd love to see some real research on the subject. Pointers welcome.

Had lunch with a friend in San Jose and discussed both HPE and Splunk. Seems that there is a desire to keep UCS going with an infusion of talent and tech from HP and then roll in Splunk for service logging.
I thought they were buying Alphabet?
Can't be serious. HPE is huge. Surely that would be more of a merger than an acquisition.
Heard the same thjng
Good one!
