CSFP team in CMS (Services) also got impacted heavily

AWS/Azure/Goog don't control the private cloud. But Cisco can't come up with a solution that has traction to sell. AWS makes a huge partnership with vmware, and cisco sits on the sidelines and hopes that CSR1000v will be the $1B product...
what is the compensation package they are offering ?
@3ljy - Sorry to hear about you & your team. I've been there. Good luck to you all.
@4ljo - Yeah, I had the same problem back in Aug. It's tough to tell the family that you may not be able to get all the "stuff" they want for Christmas or that you can't go see family. In my case, I found a job quickly enough to not impact the gift giving, but I now had no PTO and couldn't go see MY family thanks to the "Cisco family" elders. The ELT can take a long walk off a short pier, because they're not doing the company any favors the way things are going.
@41jo: no worries, IoT and cloud area have salaries close to 200k, update your linkedin and sit back and enjoy , and in no time, the recruiters will be calling you. Lots of openings, because employees are being lured out by so many companies.
So I guess first cloud and now IoT are hot for the entire industry, except for Cisco. Maybe Chuck and Co think that IoT and Cloud are fads.
Or they know they can't compete. Amazon has the market for Cloud followed by MS Azure. It's hard to sell "cloud" when you won't use it yourself and do everything "on-premise". As to IoT, the only way to compete is to make stuff CHEAPLY and sell for more. Adding security to Internet connected devices is expensive and cuts down on margins. Cisco, like Apple, depends on high margins. Why get into a market where it takes a huge volume to make profits? As long as people are buying Internet connected devices, Cisco will sell networking gear, assuming they can deliver a better, higher quality product than their competitors. Oops. Better stop getting rid of experienced people and replacing them with Engineers who only know how to search the Internet for code and tweak it to suit their purpose instead of writing innovative code. Linksys used to be a great product until it got bought out by Cisco. My first box outlasted everyone of the "Cisco" branded ones.
@3ljy, I just got my 1/1 a few minutes ago (cloud)... what is there to say now... i will have a difficult time sleeping... not because I expect to get the news tomorrow but I need to tell my wife and kids that we won't be having a summer vacation this year n cutbacks on everything n possibly moving out of the bay area leaving family behind...
@3ljy. Sorry to hear that. Job market seems fairly good for IoT engineers so hopefully you will all find something quicjly
Sunday afternoon and I and 7 other engineers on my team (IoT) just got 1:1 invites. I found out about them b/c they all texted me this morning/afternoon. Gonna be a bad Monday.
