I have heard from FIVE different management team members in my chain of command to update my resume, post for jobs, and to look out for yourself and your family. My immediate director told me I should be GRATEFUL I even have a job.
The writing is on the wall here, folks. They are not even trying to make it sound warm and fuzzy.
And the meeting today? PLEASE. What a waste of 2 hours.
As someone who just jumped ship before the layoffs, I can tell you that it is nerve wracking having to get your resume polished up and put yourself out there. But honestly you can do it! Take control of your situation. It doesn't harm anything to put your resume out there while you are still working. Test the waters! You might be surprised.
Oh and ya, the managers themselves are scrambling for their jobs and livelihood as well. I don't believe anyone is safe at this point. There will be more coming. If you follow the mergers of recent past, like Suncor and Petro-Can, then you'll have 2 more rounds coming of layoffs before things settle into what the final scene will look like
