Why do people complain about not having six-figure job opportunities knocking on their door after completing an associates in human services or a general studies degree? Come back once you've earned an MBA or MIS.

UOP was 1994, GCU was 2004. You may want to do a bit of fact checking before posting.

@ighz

Ok, one more time. People do graduate from the UOP but in numbers so miniscule that it does not explain the billions spent to justify the school's pathetic graduation and retention rates as well as their relatively expensive tuition.

As for GCU they are a phenomenon in the sense that they are even more expensive to attend, have only slightly better g/r rates and have the weirdo significance of being the first ever for-profit, publically traded University. Jesus and Wall Street what a concept!

In fact, they are, even as I text, one of the most pertinent reasons why UOP is slowly but surely biting the dust.

why would someone who is not or was not employed at UOP be on this website

@MCRR2j8-nnf that's too bad. Also explains why it's only a fortune 5000 company. Probably have a human reviewing each resume and app submitted. Most companies don't really give a crap where the degrees are from. We just care that you had the motivation and drive to achieve such accomplishments. Most companies have the resume screening automated, doesn't care about the name of the institution. Many successful people went to traditional schools for undergrad diplomas, only to later get their graduate degrees from schools like Uop or GCU.

There are several employees on here. It IS a website dedicated to layoffs at our employer after all.

I cannot speak for the other people, but we are in a unique position to see both sides. I personally have degrees from both a state university and UOP. Ive had several job opportunities specifically bc of my MBA from UoP. If your employer doesn't hire folks with a 'for profit' degree, then that's their loss. Most of our students have more work experience than yiur zit faced 22 year old who partied for 4 years on mommy and daddy's dime. I should know as I was one of them. Say what you will about the college, but just like any school, people love to talk about the bad and never the good.

FYI: The first person replying is a University of Phoenix employee. I know of someone who used to work there, and he said they had people constantly refreshing Google recent search results and social media to reply to any sort of controversy as a "normal person." If the college is "for profit," then that says something. The company I work for, a Fortune 5000 company, won't accept any for-profit college graduates.

Exactly - it's what you put in that you get out. I've had thousands of traditional college students come into a class with the same level of skill as a UOP student and leave with the same result. If they worked hard, they learned. If they didn't work hard, they left with nothing. People say that UOP is a diploma mill and students can cheat, etc., but I've caught just as many cheaters in traditional classes as I've caught in online classes.

Please, I went to a state school, and half of them couldn't spell. It's not WHERE you attend, it's WHAT you do with your education.

Some recent laid off employees posted here with the grammar and spelling skills of a houseplant. A university hired these people, and they can barely read and write.

Says it all.
