Thread regarding Scientific Games Corp. layoffs

How do they notify you?

I haven't been notified yet, but I'm extremely nervous, as I suppose most of us are. The pressure is high, cause I'm the primary source of house income, plus I have this horrible feeling that I for certainly won't dodge this bullet. Does anyone know how they notify you? Do they call you in the conference room? One-on-one? Only with HR or someone else is also there? How long does it take? How do they escort you out?

Well this exact thing happened to me yesterday at about 3pm.

HR called us into a conference room. 3 techs, and our 2 supervisors. 3 layoffs, and 1 person who was off and couldn't make it in to be let go. We all got a severance. Health insurance good until the end of the month.

Paid through today, the end of the pay cycle.

Yep about 15 mins. Walked back to our office with cubes, all grabbed our stuff and surrenderred our Ids.

I got laid off yesterday. They also laid off two other people in my department and even the VP was let go. I already had a meeting set with my director before I knew what was happening. Once the meeting time arrived, I headed to his office. I saw a lady from HR sitting in there waiting for me to get there and him to return. So, I already knew what was happening. She explained the severance package which was like 5 weeks of base pay and some other money towards my prolonged benefits. I had been with the company for almost 3 years. Then she took my badge and I was allowed to go back to my desk to get my things. My director allowed me to say goodbye to everyone and then he walked me out of the building. So, I know for a fact that about 5 people I worked closely with got laid off yesterday in the Alpharetta location.

Not sure how it works now,but before SG was in the Picture. I was one of 265 people laid off by Bally Tech and i was out that day having contractions and HR called me to say there was an issue with my direct deposit and to come and pick up my pay check. Once i got the call i already knew i was being laid off because none of my co-workers had this problem and it had never happened before so i put to and to together. When i showed up on Friday morning which was the next day after the phone call i walked into HR and my boss was sitting there with all my stuff and they informed me i was being laid off. They had me sign some paper work and explain the severance package. The following day i had my baby.....so they don't care who you are....as a single parent it was hard, but it was the best thing that could of happen to me. Things always happen for a reason!!! Good Luck!

what is the "severance agreement" like? used to be 2 weeks of pay for each year of service. this time though, they seem to have allocated 20 mil for this thing.

If you have your own office with a door then they'll come there and give you the white envelope with the severance agreement. If you are in a cube they will come and escort you in a conf room and talk to you there. After that they take you back to your cube so you can take you personal stuff (keys for your car). If you have more you have to make arrangements to come on a weekend to retrieve other personal belongings. Then they walk you to the door and you are free.

I was called into the office of our HR rep. It took less than 10 minutes to go over the paperwork. I was then escorted back to my desk to get my things and then escorted out of the building.
