Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

I'm really sorry for people laid off.

I spoke with people from San Jose and heard few stories... For example a story of a guy who has been mostly working from home recently, because he had to take care of his wife after an accident. He was doing 100% of the work, had brilliant history and was great contributor to the team. But he didn't bond with his first and second line managers. So he got cut.

So much for meritocracy.

Managers whether in sjc or blr got where they are mostly by being chums with the next two levels up. Race is not material though i agree indians more probe to tribalism and getting all their old buddies into the mix.

Really the post of line mgr 1st and 2nd level ought to be abolished.

Directors to handle budget and hiring

Tech leads to run projects

Scrum people to do their thing

Thats all we need really. Sooner the parasites are scrubbed the better

Managers can be given a one time offers to start being tech leads anx code/test else get out. Most can bo longer code a hello world pgm with proper error checks..this is esp true in blr which has the worst excesses of this sick priviledge and crony system

@zth: race does not matter.

I know of a case , where all parties are of same race, but Manager loved the brown nosing non-performer, while a performing non-brown-noser was LR'd.

That manager couldnt hide his face anywhere, when this blew up. , but he still works for cisco. I am waiting for the day, he gets fired and is out on the streets.
