Within CVX who were the best managers/colleagues and the complete opposite. And why.

Worked at BP as contractor for 9 years and then came to Chevron full time. BP hired better leaders, managers and staff than Chevron and payed better. How can so many managers be petty, unethical, and unskilled, yet keep advancing and thriving? They must follow the Chevron Way?
Not an easy choice.
Best? Demonstrated transparency, honesty, engaged with all as equals, shared successes, coached, held their hands up for poor decision making and applied lessons learned.
Worst? Self centred, dishonest, took advantage of hierarchical position in terms of favours from more junior staff, used more junior staff to complete MBA work, enjoyed being entertained by suppliers.
One became BU President the other got responsibility for looking after the careers of many.
Both were learned from.
There's more of the worst people at Chevron and only a few of the best. Those in the best column are really mediocre by other O&G company standards. Chevron better straighten itself up and find real leadership or else things will only get much worse.

OP, Who gives a damn about who is or was the best and the opposite? I was the best at what I did for over 20 years but got laid off anyway. Who gives a damn? No one and they shouldn't have to. Everyone only cares about themselves and that's the bottom line. True here and true everywhere.
