Thread regarding University of Phoenix layoffs

Leave Dauhn alone he rocks and is advocate for change!!

Leave Dauhn out of this! As an ex-FA and EA both post matrix and pre matrix! Everyone wants the coin man! We are all feeding families and many hundreds of Mormon and non morons f---ers sucked off the tit of the system enrolling homeless people from shelters, enrolling unqualified people that had GEDs and could barley right English let alone speak it! Many people post matrix were making $90k per year and not doing sh--!! The Peter principle is in effect at uop! Many ppl worked their way up to their highest level of incompetency! The business model that if you can enroll you can lead was part of the down fall of the Phoenix!! Greed, power and persuasion has lead this company into the sh--ter!! I was proud to work at the Largest private accredited college in the nation until I became an EA and soon became part of the problem! I was powered by greed and good pay and great benefits!! Now I am riddled with $158k in student loans that will probably never get paid off! And that is not the amount I borrowed $100k of that is interest for last 15 years!! My

Rant is over!! DOE please

Close this place so I can sleep better at night and won't be 85 when the loans are gone!! Dauhn is an advocate for change! Shame on AXIA having a 2 year AA degree that can be obtained for less then 10k almost anywhere at community college! 40k people paid for that worthless degree! I would give back my two master degrees to be debt free!! Good night!! Godspeed EAs and hopefully you find something else fast!!

Cumdump the shining liberal always sees the poor student as the Victim. People who have common sense will do a little research before they commit to spending money. Sorry, but the youth of today have absolutely no common sense and are part of the entitlement generation. Look at how they act, no respect for anyone who disagrees with their ideas

@HW7NWX6-2cqg, until recently University of Phoenix had arbitration clauses that prevented students from suing. I know somebody who sued anyway; although s/he didn't win per se, Apollo Group probably had to give him/her a good deal not to talk.

Apollo Group and University of Phoenix also have clauses that make it difficult for employees to sue or to publicly complain about unethical behavior: that's why, for example, Aldrich and Nolan lost the first round of their case--even though they had all the evidence to show how predatory University of Phoenix was with veterans. I wouldn't be surprised, however, if University of Phoenix makes a deal to prevent more damning evidence about the ways they targeted vets in violation of EO 13607. I'm surprised that the feds allowed UoPX to do anything with service members or vets after the initial evidence surfaced.

Students and employees should report their complaints to state and federal agencies AND sue Apollo Group if they can. Students and employees should also consider doing class action suits if they have the resources.

If you are a worker or a student veteran, please contact me.

@Dahn--you're a little "social justice" poosy. There are two at fault here. The fraud(UOP) and the dupe, i.e., idiot student. If students feel they were defrauded, go after the school, not student loan relief from the American taxpayers. Anyone 18 and over dumb enough to attend a for-profit pretend school deserves all the derision and humiliation heaped upon her. Now STFU.

@HW7NWX6-1knt and @HW7NWX6-1zoi, if you notice, @HW7NWX6 went to University of Phoenix about 15 years ago. That's when Todd S. Nelson was taking over the company and starting it on its downward path. In 2001 the school still had a decent reputation, and people had to be at least 23 to matriculate. This person now owes more in interest ($100K) than in principle ($58K). If you have no sympathy, then perhaps you will also face the consequences for your lack of humanity (albeit in a smaller way).

Whatever moron on here is always mocking him, not like that is going to save your ass I'm one of tens of thousands who are doing everything we can to shut these crooked little welfare queen companies down. You're a retard if you can't see that UoP, Devry, ITT, and many other schools were always based on frontloading as many unaffordable loans as possible, with zero regard to the mathematical certainty that was going to happen a few years down the road. So whine and cry and go felch his assbut it won't save you in the end.

@HW7NWX6, that's the irony. Those who stood up to fix University of Phoenix were dismissed or forced out. Several of them talked to me over the past few years because they saw things that they knew were unethical.

But there were constructive critics long before that--even at the higher levels.

If Apollo Education Group had more ethical executives who were open to criticism, UoPX would be in much better shape today.

Instead of innovating, which Apollo Group was originally known for, people like Todd S. Nelson chose to make short-term profits by exploitation students and employees. Now University of Phoenix faces this "merger" with Apollo Global Management, a vulture firm. This merger does not bode well for students or employees.

Recently, more workers have reached out to me because they were with the company for years--and could see the direction UoPX was going. Some have contacted federal agencies, others are in federal court. Others have eventually made deals with University of Phoenix and although they cannot say anything, they have made a dent in Apollo Group's armor. Will anyone else do the same, or at least contact the oversight agencies (VA, DoED, FTC, SEC, state AGs)?
