Thread regarding University of Phoenix layoffs

Firing people for "inconsistent" performance and management tells everyone it's not about enrollment numbers.

More layoffs are coming.

Yep. The devil is in the details, so careful what you say. They are listening.

Just get business cards at Filberto's and Bosa Donuts. I prefer submitting the landscapers who have them in Spanish. It is hilarious hearing the idiots around me calling these leads. The entire database is full of bogus leads.

I work the college of IT and I am being told that because I stepped down as a manager and now a senior enrollment rep that I HAVE to enroll a minimum of 10 students or more or else I could be written up. The directive is coming from the top. They are also forcing you to get referrals no matter where you get them from they don't even have to come from your other students they are asking that you solicit the school while you shop or on the weekends (off the clock). University of Phoenix is going through some dire straits and the managers are willing to write up anyone that might make them look bad and who they feel will put a target on their back when the new management comes in.

What type of complaints can be filed with Dept of Education? What type with EEOC? And what type with Dept of labor? What type with FTC? Can same complaints be filed with all? Or does EEOC have seniority over all these agencies? Is EEOC only agency where compensation for damaged can be awarded for complaints filed?

It appears when you inform management of sub par enrollments ( like homeless or no GED on file) or any. students when properly screened present as not a good fit or do not have basic skills to be successful in this online environment. Many come to UOP for the ease of getting financial aid , PELL or to use military benefits ..education is clearly not their priority. Large percentage quit once they get refunds and funding is recalled by dept of education because students don't understand financial aid and PELL is ' earned' by going to school, getting passing grades...these funds are awarded for GOING to school and being successful. Not concept a lot of students grasp. When these examples are related to managers the advisers are not being ' team ' players and that ethical attitude gets you fired or laid off for fantasy reasons. 20-20 hindsight if you complain, have all ducks ( facts/ evidence) gathered... make the complaints to management in writing and once you see the non responsive, shove under rug attitude IMMEDIATELY go to EEOC or DEPT of LABOR... I don't know if you can go to both at same time. Giving UOP time to respond GI es them time to begin their campaign to get rid of you before you file your complaint. Manager s , HR and Ombudsman office a joke at UOP. File a complaint and see if you can find an employment attorney that is handling a lot, a lot of UOP cases. Did I say a lot? There a couple out there. Research. I have seen a couple employees who filed EEOC immediately after involving mgr and HR and were strangely taken more seriously than giving UOP and HR time or benefit of doubt...to start their retaliation to end you...they are different if they know you already have filed a complaint and you are not bluffing. More valid complaints filed more light brought to UOP' s misconduct.

@HVNexms-2llj, have you reported this to the Department of Education? Have you considered a lawsuit as others have recently done?

@HVNexms-2nop, did you send any emails to your manager about th equality of your leads? The EAs who are in the best position are those who documented the poor leads that they got (e.g. people with language or cognition problems, people without a GED or high school degree, people who didn't have the money or resources to go to school) and who told this to their managers.

Yes many have been let go by sleazeball managers. Tell your story here. I reported a manager who was enrolling homeless people and was terminated a month later for "poor performance", even though I enrolled an average of 8 to 12 students per month.

They have to reduce staff in any unethical or inconsistent way they can because their damaged image is no longer enrolling the huge numbers they were enrolling in the past....those days are gone. They will make people reapply for their current jobs or hire new staff at much lower pay so new company can capitalize on their profits... less staff, lower pay and dramatic reduction in enrollment numbers. Students are seeing the damaged image of UOP and are looking elsewhere as universities with stronger brand and more integrity are now offering online programs and UOP is no longer leader in online arena. UOP had a good idea with online concept, but they destroyed with greed. Management doesn't see correlation between lower enrollment numbers and reduction in workforce? And long term employees that supported them loyally in past ALL of SUDDEN are inadequate? They should make this next layoff about reduction in management since they managed us into this downfall. Sad but true.
