Thread regarding Halliburton Co. layoffs

Disappointing

It's disappointing how Singapore technology moved from a closely knitted department, filled with enthusiastic and highly motivated Engineers, to one that is highly unmotivated, uninspired, with the core of the experienced Engineers gone. Kudos to the current management team!!! What goes around, comes around.

BRAVO. I totally agree with you. Whiners have no guts to make a difference in their own lives. Sour grapes. Or they just have a sense of entitlement so big they think they must be the ones being promoted and not others.

How would you know? Have you been to Singapore? People here are all speculating and trying to justify themselves. Why am I laid off while the rest are not? Feeling sorry for yourself?

Again, a company is a business. It's not a charity. While working in Halliburton, are you not paid with salary? So in general, the company never owes you a single dime.

It's so simple: If you are still in Halliburton but doesn't like the management, then quit! But you won't, right? coz' you are so f*cking afraid to do it and won't get the same salary as Halliburton gives. So unless quit your job, stop whining..

hu hu hu. I am working in a company with stupid management..

hu hu hu. they never value the employee..

hu hu hu. they hire inexperienced management/fresh gradute..

I am not a pro management but the people I hate most are those that always whine, blame, complain and etc..

If you were laid off, then move on!

If you are still with Halliburton but doesn't like the management, then QUIT!

If you are disappointed that "seniors" get promoted easily, then look for a better company.

Question:

Does posting anything here will lead you to somewhere?

Will the management hear/read it?

Answer: BIG NOOOOO!

So MAN UP guys! Let's get over it. It's not the most intelligent person who will survive the most, but those who can adapt with the situation and the environment.

Question 1): How did they promote people in Singapore Technology?

Answer 1): Based on "seniority" (You could be promoted easier and faster if you are older than the rest). How disappointed and ashamed that it's not evaluating based on a person's capabilities, skill set, working experience and ability to lead the team.

HAL comes up with stupid ideas like the HMP program to put people on the 'fast-track' to management. The problem with this is that the people they promote don't know jack-sh-- about what they're managing. Young kids out of college, who have no real life experience suddenly are making decisions based on what people are telling them and their own limited knowledge. Singapore is supported by Carrollton, and pretty much EVERYTHING Carrollton supports has been a failure. They are GREAT at throwing money at the problem, but not much else. Now look around and see that most everyone associated to all these failures have either transferred, or quit, or have been laid off. If HAL would go back to promoting from within all their experienced people, they might have a better time of it all.

We had such dreams ....such dreams ... all squandered cause management wanted slaves.... not people who want to build something better...something greater....in the end slaves they got...contractors... pieces of gears to feed the machinery even that fall apart.... we had such dreams
